👋@RoxanaMinzatu just announced that the Quality Jobs Act will address some of the key factors shaping job quality today: health & safety, subcontracting, algorithmic management & AI at the work place.

[Thomas @setomwork]

⚠️Breaking: The European Trade Union Confederation @etuc_ces has rejected the European Social Dialogue Work Programme 2027-2028.

What's next for EU social dialogue?

[Thomas @setomwork]

Simplification, yes. Deregulation of fundamental rights, no. Concerns are growing ahead of tomorrow’s Antici Simplification talks on the #DigitalOmnibus and its impact on #GDPR, workers’ data and trustworthy AI.

[Thomas @setomwork]

The fight against “gold-plating” must not become a ceiling on social rights, as @etuc_ces stressed in the @EU_EESC debate with @VDombrovskis.

EU social legislation sets minimum standards, not maximum ones.

Member States & social partners must remain free to go further!

[Thomas @setomwork]

The road to paid transparency is long and winding ...

[Thomas @setomwork]

Brussels says the #QualityJobsAct is still being defined. Yet von der @vonderleyen's #SOTEU just gave away the plot: AI risks to workers → job quality → QJA.

If algorithmic management wasn't on the table, why use it as the Act's main justification?

[Thomas @setomwork]

🔻@vonderleyen’s pact against "gold-plating" runs counter to both the spirit and the letter of #SocialEurope.

EU law sets minimum standards, not maximum ceilings.

Stronger worker protections are not regulatory failures. They are the point!

[Thomas @setomwork]

Sweden’s largest trade union @Unionen expects the Swedish Government to ensure a full and meaningful implementation of the revised European Works Council Directive.

[Thomas @setomwork]

Today, @EPSocialAffairs votes on a report urging stronger action on psychosocial risks at work.

It calls on @RoxanaMinzatu to review existing OSH legislation, identify remaining gaps &, based on an impact assessment, bring forward further legislative action if justified.

[Thomas @setomwork]

Just in: COM @RoxanaMinzatu tells EP @johandanielsson that subcontracting chains may be addressed through the #QualityJobsAct, #FairLabourMobilityPackage & procurement reform.

But the priority is enforcement of existing EU rules, not new legislation.

[Thomas @setomwork]

Just in: Commissioner @hadjalahbib signals she is ready to launch infringement proceedings over delayed #PayTransparency Directive transposition!

She also makes clear that collective agreements do not create a presumption of compliance with EU equal pay rules.

[Thomas @setomwork]

💥 At today’s @EU_EESC plenary, Commissioner @MartaKosEU stressed that successful EU enlargement requires the active involvement of social partners & civil society throughout the process. #EUEnlargement #SocialEurope

[Thomas @setomwork]

🗣️ @RoxanaMinzatu at today’s @EU_EESC plenary: more action is needed on algorithmic management, enforcement of existing rules, health & safety, and subcontracting in high-risk sectors.

Measures will form part of the Quality Jobs Act, due by the end of 2026.

[Thomas @setomwork]

Ahead of tomorrow’s Coreper, the @EUCouncil may delete the insolvency chapter from the EU Inc. proposal,

the very chapter its own Legal Service says CAN be based on Art. 114,

while keeping Art. 114 for most of the proposal, which the LS says CANNOT.

Does it make legal sense?

[Thomas @setomwork]

Sweden is falling behind on EU labour law.

The #PayTransparency Directive is delayed.

The #PlatformWork Directive will almost certainly also be implemented after the deadline.

[Thomas @setomwork]

💬Social dialogue & collective bargaining are business assets, not compliance burdens. The Commission's CS3D guidelines should recognise their role in strengthening due diligence, improving risk prevention and supporting responsible business conduct.

[Thomas @setomwork]

⏰ Commission briefs @EESC_SOC on @RoxanaMinzatu’s upcoming Quality Jobs Act, but details remain vague.

More action hinted at, yet long-delayed second stage consultation with @BusinessEurope, @etuc_ces, @SGI_Europe & @SMEunited?

Still only ’soon’ says @EU_Commission.

[Thomas @setomwork]

🥊EU Inc: the core battle in @EUCouncil right now is the legal basis.

Is it an internal market tool (Art. 114, regulation) or
company law (Art. 50, directive)?

That choice defines the whole playing field.

Where does the Swedish Gov. @Justitiedep @SwedeninEU stand?

[Thomas @setomwork]

🙋@ecrgroup asked Commissioner @hadjalahbib if the Pay Transparency Directive would be simplified, she said no. 🛑

When the @EPPGroup asked the same question, the Commission’s answer stayed exactly the same.

🗣️ Commissioner @JessikaRoswall visited our plenary @EU_EESC today, highlighting the importance of inclusive cooperation in strengthening Europe’s sustainability & resilience. 🇪🇺
