First alpha release for testing of BlindBit Desktop - a pure Silent Payments (BIP 352) Wallet.
- Local scanning only -> full privacy
- Background scanning in tray -> always near chaintip
- Simple GUI to manage the wallet

@UnruggableGG@CoSatoshi821@craigraw I’ve had this lying around waiting for frigate to be integrated into sparrow. Lightweight alternative to a fully fledged frigate server. Part of the BlindBit ecosystem.

As all scanning is happening locally, the public indexing server does not learn anything about your transactions.
If you are keen on playing around with Silent Payments (BIP 352), this desktop wallet might be for you.
I will appreciate any feedback I can get!
@Sina_21st @COLDCARDwallet Bitbox02 has a bitcoin-only version. IMO you should have referenced that version for this comparison to be fair.
Apart from that, me and everyone I recommended it to was able to use it with ease, but user-friendliness is subjective. So won't argue on that
Been tinkering on BlindBit the past few months. Separating scanning and spending for silent payments. Scanner is dockerized and can run on Umbrel. The scan service just tells the app it's utxos. Then spend the coins from a mobile wallet (PoC), without additional scanning/waiting.
Ideally some existing wallets would adopt this simple process. The burden is a lot lower compared to implementing the full SP logic. One API call and private key tweaking are needed for spending. UX wise this is also a lot better, long scan times can be frustrating for users
@sethforprivacy Thanks! You could run BB oracle and scan, this should be fairly simple. There are docker images (at this moment latest dev tag is best). I've tested the app on iOS and it get's the job done, don't have an android to test. Will be adding support to blindbitd which runs on desktop
I wrote the following text explaining how BIP352, aka Silent Payments, work. This is a proposal to enable static payment addresses, but without a notification transaction.
The text go into details, but I try to summarise the process below:
