India will not be the next China for coal generation.
Here's why:
India's GDP per capita reached $10,000 in 2025. China was roughly at the same point 15 years ago. In China, a massive expansion of demand an coal generation followed (although that is coming to an end now as well). The difference for India now? Solar, wind and battery storage are now cheap and scalable.
India's solar and wind generation per capita are already five times higher than China's were at the same GDP per capita level.
Electricity demand is significantly lower for the same GDP as India's economy is more service sector focused.
That means India's coal power growth is already stalling out much earlier. Even with some further expansion, it's likely to stall out at less than a third of China's recent peak output from 2024.
Most of India's growth over the next decade will be powered by solar, wind and battery storage, not coal, gas and oil.
Brilliant economic paper, directly models the "Structural Jevons Paradox" happening right now in the AI industry.
The cost of running an LLM is dropping, but total computing energy is exploding anyway.
It mathematically proves that as the unit cost of digital intelligence and coding drops, the aggregate demand for complex AI agents and the infrastructure to support them surges exponentially, creating a massive new downstream ecosystem that requires human management.
Reveals a massive paradox where dropping the price of AI usage does not save money, but instead encourages developers to build vastly more complex agents that eat up exponentially more computing power.
Because of this relentless progress, small companies building simple applications on top of these models get completely crushed as the core AI naturally absorbs those exact same features over time.
They also discovered a brutal dynamic where a perfectly working LLM becomes economically worthless the moment a competitor releases a smarter version.
Ultimately, the researchers prove that this combination of massive computing costs and the need for constant user data naturally pushes the entire AI industry toward an unavoidable monopoly.

🚨 International Olympic Committee (IOC) response to India's 2036 Olympic Games pitch.
• Indian Olympic Association's leadership mess.
• Doping issues at high.
• Poor Olympic medal performance.

Indians suddenly discovering Sri Lanka like ISRO discovered a new planet 😝
I am happy that now we are slowly realising how much we are deprived of basic road infrastructure in India.
Privileged top 10% Indians are either clueless how the others live or ruthless to an extent that they would rather spend effort on fake bragging & incorrect comparisons than actually caring about their fellow citizens.
