The case concerns a network of centers operating in Myanmar. Victims were forced to engage in fraud, illegal gambling, and other criminal activities. Women were typically coerced into luring money from wealthy men or performing in webcam services. Those who disobeyed were beaten and tortured.

One such camp is where 27-year-old Belarusian woman Vera Kravtsova went missing. All indications suggest she was killed and her organs were sold.

Earlier reports said the Myanmar military had freed 2,200 enslaved people from a fraudulent call center.
