🚨2024 has been a turbulent year for the DeFi space, with multiple vulnerabilities leading to significant hacks and financial losses. Here's a breakdown of the key vulnerabilities that have emerged this year:

1. Reentrancy Attacks: Reentrancy attacks were particularly damaging, with 8 incidents resulting in approximately $30 million in losses. The @Penpiexyz_io exploit stood out as one of the most notable examples of this type of attack​.
2. Oracle manipulation: Another critical vulnerability, accounted for 6 incidents, leading to around $50 million in losses. Attackers exploited low-liquidity assets to manipulate token prices, although specific high-profile cases are still emerging.
3. Flash loan: Flash loan exploits were prevalent as well, with 9 incidents reported that caused approximately $40 million in losses. These attacks often involved manipulating prices across decentralized exchanges.
4. Input Validation Flaws: Input validation flaws contributed to 4 incidents, resulting in around $20 million in losses. Various incidents happened where insufficient input validation allowed attackers to exploit smart contracts and drain funds​.

These incidents underscore the critical need for enhanced security measures and comprehensive audits for DeFi projects.
