Let me brag about God with this story. 🙏🏿
Sometime in 2004, I was half-awake, meditating, when I heard a voice:
“Go and tell Cornelius Tay that the whole office must praise Me.”
Mr. Cornelius Tay was our MD/CEO.
Immediately, I said in my heart, “Never! Emi, ke? Me? 🤷🏿♂️”
At the time, the company was facing a serious financial crisis. There was little or no patronage for both the advertising agency and the water engineering company. As a result, salaries were not being paid.
When I got to the office, I shared the message with Foluso, who was close to the MD at the time.
“Hmmnn, Nduka, you want to lose your job.”
That one increased my fear. 😂
Then I told another colleague who was a pastor. He simply asked me:
“Who will you fear—God or man?”
With that, I summoned courage.
Mr. Tay and his wife came into the office around 9:00 a.m. I waited about five minutes for them to settle, then knocked on his door.
He ushered me in.
“Good morning, sir. God sent me to you.”
Immediately, his wife was startled. She held her husband and said, “Close the door.”
Then she told me something that shocked me.
They had been praying that morning, and God had told them that someone would come and tell them what they should do.
So they asked me, “What did God say we should do?”
I replied, “God said we should just praise Him. Raise our voices and praise Him.”
“So how do we do it?”
I said, “I will tell Pastor to handle it.”
We came out into the open office. Mr. Tay clapped his hands to get everyone’s attention. We prayed and praised God together.
Afterwards, everyone simply went back to their seats.
Around 2:00 p.m., we received a call from Ngozi at African Petroleum (AP):
Our cheque for ₦48 million was ready! The money they owed us for several months.
As we were still rejoicing, the water engineering company also received a contract from the Water Corporation at Ijora.
Two breakthroughs. Same day.
That was how God intervened in the financial crisis of the company.
And to think that when I first heard the instruction, I said:
“Emi, keh? Never!” 😂
So, yes, let me brag about my God:
He is good. He speaks. He provides. He makes a way where there seems to be no way.
PRAISE THE LORD! 🙏🏿❤️

I have never lifted up my hands to hit my wife in 44 years of marriage.
Where will I have the strength from?

“The cream that refuses to finish”:
The early classic packaging used heavy glass jars that easily shattered into dangerous shards if dropped on hard floors.
Produced decades ago by PZ Cussons Nigeria as a pioneer skincare and hair conditioning brand.
Was standard issue for boarding house students back in the 1980s.
I woke up this morning to three missed calls from around 4–5 a.m. The number belonged to my member’s fiancée.
I finished my devotion and returned the call, only to hear:
“Pastor, wọ́n ti gbé Dele, àwọn ọlọ́pàá ti gbé Dele.”
Meaning, “Pastor, Dele has been arrested. The police have arrested Dele.”
I asked what happened, and she narrated everything to me.
They had closed from the shop late in the evening because they had not made any meaningful sales. Dele decided to work as a conductor for one trip before they returned home. She protested against it vehemently, but Dele insisted.
While they were working, the vehicle they were with broke down, and they could not continue. They decided to stay where they were for the night.
As they were there, Dele went out to get some food. On his way back, he met some people fighting and decided to intervene and stop the fight.
It wasn't long before the police arrived and arrested everyone.
The people who were actually fighting managed to escape, while those who tried to stop the fight were the ones who got arrested.
I left home, went to the police station, and by God's grace, Dele is free now.
It didn't matter that I had to stand as the Pastor and the only person an arrested person had.

Who remembers Canada Dry soft drink?
In the 19700s-1980s, Canada Dry was a popular and widely available soft drink in Nigeria, bottled and distributed locally by Chief Gabriel Igbinedion’s Okada Bottling Company under the Canada Dry International franchise.
The company operated major bottling plants in cities including Lagos, Benin, Jos, and Kano, producing favorite carbonated lines like Ginger Ale, Bravo, and Sport Cola.
Now You Know
This is why I laugh when people use what they see online or the misconduct of a few ministers to judge all pastors.
I understand the concern. Greed, manipulation and financial abuse in ministry are real and should be confronted. But concern becomes unfair when we start saying, “Pastors are thieves,” “They are all after your money,” or “Ministry is a scam.”
There are countless faithful pastors quietly serving God and His people with the little they have, making sacrifices that will never make social media.
Call out abuse, absolutely. But don't use the abuse of some to condemn the sacrifice of all.
What goes viral is not necessarily what is representative.
“People always say Nigeria is not safe, there’re corrupt police everywhere, it’s a hassle to travel in Nigeria. None of these is true”
