There is a deep persistent part of my psyche telling me that she is my enemy and a threat to my continued existence. This is an unexplained psychological phenomenon, and yet the mention of her illicits a nightmarish anger in me.
Since there are about 50k more of you than there were two days ago, I thought I’d reintroduce myself.
Hi, I’m Emma. I’m a writer and editor for @WSJFreeEx. I write about politics and culture, and make videos about economics (and more!)
I have a book about Gen Z and risk aversion, called “NO HARD FEELINGS,” coming out next summer with @randomhouse.
You probably know me for my videos, but writing is where my heart is. If you like cultural criticism and want to know more about Gen Z culture from AI girlfriends to “former gifted kids” to Luigi Mangione, you’ll want to grab a copy.
A few fun facts:
1. I grew up in Alabama, and I attended a fine arts magnet school where I studied creative writing for 3 hours a day.
2. I went to @UVA, where I met my amazing husband, joined a 200-year-old debating society, and broke the internet when I wrote a @nytopinion essay about my experiences.
3. I LOVE to throw cocktail parties. I love coming up with new recipes, playing around with different flavors, and inviting dozens of people over to try my drinks. I was once even dubbed an “apex predator” of hosting.
4. I used to sew a LOT. I even made my own wedding dress.
Excited for what’s next! And stay tuned for book updates, more videos, and lots of cocktail pictures.
@whiskeyandmagic I made those assumptions because I can’t imagine why you as an employee as opposed to an owner would care as much as you do. Who gives a fuck if a kid wants to go hiking, the idea that kids need to be working all the time is slavish mentality
@whiskeyandmagic I understand that you’re an entitled small business owner who doesn’t profit enough to hire full-time staff and pay them above minimum wage. You still complain about your employees when you probably pay them the lowest legal wage possible.
