Hello! I’m @cm_madla & a PhD Researcher at @ucl@School_Pharmacy. My PhD focuses on understanding why males and females respond differently to medicines (if this is news to you, they do indeed!! and it’s more than just to do with hormones.. 👀). #WomenInScience#WomenInSTEM
I’ve been quiet on @sexinscience socials (help!) but trust that I have been active in championing sex as a biological variable across #academic, #industrial and #commercial institutions. Can’t wait to share what I’ve been up to and hopefully future collaborations! #WomenInSTEM
Hi everyone! To new followers, this is @cm_madla and I founded @sexinscience - a platform to shed light to the #sex and #gender gap in #pharmaceutical research with the aim of finding strategies to improve formulation design for better #medicines.
Thank you @cm_madla (@sexinscience) for your amazing session this evening. If you missed it don't worry - the session will be uploaded onto the BOPA website tomorrow! @cm_madla will also be presenting at #BOPA2022 in October in Liverpool!

Evening well spent sharing @sexinscience to clinicians and championing sex as a biological variable. Thanks again for the invitation @BOPACommittee@PinkieChambers Tiffany Chan & Joe Williams!
We're delighted that @UCL has come 2nd in the UK for research power in @REF_2021 - with 93% of our research graded as ‘world leading’ and ‘internationally excellent’. Read more https://t.co/g4X9n1HP2f ⬅️ #UCLResearch#REFResults#REF2021
⏰THIS FRIDAY!⏰We're chatting to @cm_madla, PhD researcher & founder of @sexinscience ! We discuss
data gaps fuelling inequality (prepare to be outraged😡) when it comes to both sex & gender PLUS the small ways we can make a difference in our own research! 🧪#WomenInSTEM
So honoured to have a seat at @TheAcademinist’s table highlighting @sexinscience and the data gap in scientific development.
Listen in on conversations that need to be brought to the fore for #HealthEquity. Accessible wherever you get your podcasts this FRIDAY! 📣

AI in #healthcare is the use of #machinelearning to mimic humans in scientific analyses, presentation and understanding of complex medicine health data. Despite advances, most of biomedicine AI technologies do not detect biases. See full post at: https://t.co/zW32oT5yoc
Enjoyed sharing my first online @sexinscience x @UCLChangeMakers presentation to the MSc at the @School_Pharmacy today! Great turnout and questions asked to equip the next gen of scientists towards sex-informed research approaches. Thank you @mineorluUCL for the opportunity!
#MachineLearning and #ArtificialIntelligence can be transformative to #healthcare systems. Despite significant advances, most of the currently used biomedicine AI technologies do not account for the detection of biases.

It’s clear that a gender gap exists in research investment — while there have been 1954 clinical trials studying erectile dysfunction, only 393 studies have focused on female sexual pain.
#endometriosis#research#sexdifferences#pain
Endometriosis is a chronic and often debilitating condition that causes painful or heavy periods and potentially infertility, fatigue, bowel and bladder problems
#endometriosis
1/10 people with the female reproductive system in the UK suffer from endometriosis. 10% of people suffer from endometriosis worldwide. It costs the UK economy £8.2 billion a year because of treatment, loss of work and healthcare costs. The main cause of endometriosis is unknown.
Today we're discussing the effects of exercise on our gut microbes. Did you know that healthy gut microbes can also improve our endurance? Check out our full post at:
