Dr. Jim Ewing signed a contract to publish a book with Roman and Littlefield (May 4, 2019). The working title is "Teaching Math to Hispanic ELLs." This book will offer teachers strategies to engage Latinx students in mathematics. It will be released in 2020. #SFA

Dr. Yuan He attended Texas NAME this past week and presented her research titled: “Between Languages: An Elementary School Student’s Cultural Adaptation.” Dr. He is expected to join the department faculty in January 2019.

Dr. Deborah Williams congratulates Ben Dickey, graduate of the Interdisciplinary Studies EC-6 program. Ben founded the SFA Undergraduate Research Club. He has presented at multiple national conferences, including the National Conference on Undergraduate Research.
Dr. Ewing gave several workshops on the Week of April 30,2018. About 40 Field 2 students attended. The name of the workshop was "Rigorous Math for All, Including ELLs and Students in Poverty.
Bailey Freeman received the Olds Family Award for Outstanding Student Teacher in Elementary Education. Bailey is in the 4-8 Mathematics program. Lindsey McCowan received Honorable Mention for the award. Lindsey is in the 4-8 English Language Arts/Reading program.
