After retiring from baseball Glenn was still active in sports, including medals in the Gay Games and an active player in the @SFGSL. Glenn passed away in 1995 from complications due to AIDS, he is recognized for breaking barriers in professional sports.

#D3 Celebrates #BlackHistoryMonth in honor of Glenn Burke. Baseball fans may recognize Glenn for creating the “high-five” when he celebrated Dusty Baker’s 30th HR in 1977. Glenn was a Bay Area native who was also the first publicly-openly gay professional baseball player.
