Arrhythmogenesis of Sports: Myth or Reality? This review looks at the purported mechanisms of exercise-induced cardiac arrhythmia and complex interplay with sporting discipline, demographics, genetics and acquired factors. Great work @Sfyyaz@StGeorgesUni https://t.co/wm2ySev9vt
Pulmonary embolism management just changed dramatically.
The new 2026 AHA/ACC Multisociety PE Guideline introduces:
• A completely new PE classification system
• Stronger role for PERT teams
• More clarity on thrombectomy/thrombolysis
• Early discharge for selected patients
• Long term follow up recommendations
This is probably the biggest PE guideline shift in years.
Delighted to have our paper published in @BJSM_BMJ.
Grateful to an outstanding team of collaborators. This work highlights the association between occult hypertension and high-risk coronary atherosclerosis in master endurance athletes.

A back table illustration of the technique published by @PCRonline to remove a stuck perclose footplate in the vessel!
Simple and I believe can get us out of trouble!

#CardioX peeps, comments welcome
@DrAsifQasim@DHSCgovuk When I qualified from medical school around 10% of graduates were from a working class background
When I left after working in NHS for 40 years this had decreased to 5%
The actions of politicians have made it more difficult for people like me to access a career in medicine
Congratulations @DrNileshPareek@m_g_mcgarvey and the team at @kingscardio to perform some first cases in the world using #Ultreon3 OCT software. Ultreon 3.0 brings AI Lipid & Calcium detection, 1-sec pullback & image based physiology insights #FFROCT
A great thread - reducing clinic admin burden is a win. But the danger is subtle; if AI replaces reflection, we lose the very process that trains judgement.
We need AI in the workflow, not instead of it.
We have designed a training pathway that produces generalists who are not fully generalist, and specialists who are not yet fully specialist. https://t.co/OOsFFlKBqa
I’ve seen someone else on here suggest that the retired doctor who wrote this was a “junior” doctor in 1974 when he was “happy with £7,500”
Just so we’re all clear on the maths:
£7,500 in 1974 in today’s money is:
🔹 £114,756 by RPI inflation.
🔸 £72,046 by CPI inflation.
🚨 CHIP-BCIS3 randomised 300 patients with LVEF ≤35% undergoing high risk PCI to either micro axial flow pump or standard care
➡️ mAFP did not reduce major adverse clinical outcomes
⚠️ There was an excess of CV death in patients who received PCI with mAFP
