@scottbudman@Redfin It would not shock me if you found >75% of the homes in Los Altos were owned by trusts. But they are all owner occupied.
(I know, I helped run a sports league, where we had to check residency, a huge number of trusts were "Jones family" or "Wang family" or "Patel family")
@scottbudman@Redfin You need to remove trusts, or at least qualify them.
My home is bought with a trust and my son did also. Anyone worth > $1M almost has to set up a trust.
What trusts measure is not "investors" rather how well off financially you have to be to buy a house in those metros.
@jasonscheer@Katy_Faust FYI there are many studies on the outcomes of children with
1) 2 opposite sex parents
2) 1 male parent
3) 1 female parent
4) 2 male parents
5) 2 female parents
Statistically those with men around (1 or 2), do far better than those without, especially for boys. Not in dispute
@Tom_Antonov I hope they impose a hefty fine on both of them, enough to cover the cleanup costs. Then make them spend their next 6 months of weekends picking up trash and cleaning graffiti on the highways.
@jasonscheer@ThemBeforeUs Otherwise, you sound like the kid on the playground who just makes up something, saying, "oh yeah, I know plenty who aren't XYZ" as a counter to something they don't like, but have no hard knowledge about.
A better retort is "100 is a small sample you know"
@jasonscheer@ThemBeforeUs Guess.
Come on dude. Back it up with statistical facts or don't wade into it arguing quantitatively.
Your argument is perhaps morality based rather than success rate based, accepting failures and problems stemming from it. If so argue that.
@GavinNewsom Further the first claim of conspiracy came from the election night 3rd place Democrat mayoral candidate who decried dark forces at work in the vote counting. Eventually she moved to 2nd. Now the 3rd place Republican cries foul.
All this drama is due to the delayed count.
@GavinNewsom Reform our election counting process. Delays lead to the appearance of being open to manipulation, creating a perception problem. It opens the door to conspiracy theories.
Why can 45+ less tech savvy states count 99% of ballots on election night, but California cannot?
@jasonscheer@ThemBeforeUs Define "many." That is a vague term which means different things to different people, and is easily manipulated since it has no statistical anchoring.
In a large population like the US, you should look at outcome likelihoods, perhaps by percentage, to get a useful picture.
@TxTechRed@iowahawkblog You are the one on a tangent.
Your point is not relevant to the issue of sporting integrity.
As for a complete ban, who cares what your moral code is. Don't impose it on others. Freedom means the freedom to screw up. Otherwise it's not freedom.
@boboosta@Janet_sm145 My own take, murder is what we as a society agree to and codify in law. And it is wholly independent of motive; no one motive determines it.
Legally, abortion is not considered muder.
Christian has a broader definition, where abortion in many cases qualifies morally as murder.
@sportslarryk That '84 team was the most dominant and two deep everywhere. The '94 and '89 teams were almost as dominant and flashier, more fun to watch (different era)
Any one of those three team I'd love to have.
@boboosta@Janet_sm145 I cannot tell that from the clip. You seem to be filling in the blanks to assign strategy and motive. Maybe you are right, maybe not I give the benefit of the doubt. I need a longer clip to see the setup and his positioning to make such a call.
@boboosta@Janet_sm145 I think he's trying to force her into false dichotomies with simple yes-no question response requests. We actually do not know anything about his beliefs, as he doesn't state any.
@MsMelChen Welcome to Ghetto politics.
Weimar was like this in the 1920s to early 1930s. Either vote Communists and Socialists, or vote Fascist and Nazis. The middle didn't exist.
@MsMelChen I think both the Dems and GOP are right on aspects of voter reform.
It should be electronic (Dems), and it should be secure and validated voter rolls (GOP). Both are doable easily. Biometric and other verification, including location can be done online. Vote tally instant.
@SethAbramson It will revitalize the area. You should have seen what the area around the SF Giants stadium looked like before they came. Now it's a hot area with lots of new businesses. So much so the Warriors moved there as well.
Chicago is repeating Oakland's failures.
@ChrisVannini Gambling is banned in pro sports because it is covered in the CBA. College sports lacks that legal framework.
As long as the NCAA plays by the fiction that athletes are students and not employees, they will not have the power to enforce a discriminatory rule on eligibility.
