How else would India see an empire built on hyper-curated propaganda unravel so completely? It took an even greater narrative force, a spontaneous, unfiltered Gen Z revolution, to pull back the curtain.

His carefully manufactured image didn't just fade; it has crumbled.
No matter what moves he makes from here, no matter what reels he makes, no matter what propaganda he unleashes from here, the thesis of his legacy has shifted.

He will go down in history not for his strength, but as a lesson in the inevitable failure of propaganda when met with genuine collective consciousness.

History was patient and ultimately kind to Manmohan Singh, because substance usually outlasts spectacle. History will not be so kind with Modi.

Divine justice rarely works, but every now and then, a Nation gets to watch it unfold in real time.

As someone who rather foolishly underestimated the power of youth and social media (in Tamil Nadu) less than three months ago, I believe that the BJP and Modi have lost the plot on the student protests.

First, the cause appears just to almost everyone.

Second, the youth have the ability to bypass mainstream Godi media and get their message across through social media platforms.

Third, there is significant pent up anger against the Govt. already there to tap into.

Fourth and this I see as significant, when they start ridiculing and laughing at you on a mass scale, it is a sign that the end of your stint may not too far off. Earlier, only stand up comics used to do this. Now there are dozens of memes and songs every day from ordinary people/youth.

Fifth, when people decide to vote you out it does not matter who stands against you. Vijay was not voted to power because of his ideology or political prowess. He won because people decided they didn't want the DMK and AIADMK. And he was able to use social media to bypass the local Daddy media. So this, "there is no alternative" will not wash.

Will the Modi Govt overcome this protest? Of course it will. It has all the powers at its command and will not hesitate to use them. It is certainly not the end of the road for Modi.

But it may just be the beginning of the end. #Studentprotest

ஆனால், டெல்லி காவல்துறையைப் பின்பற்றி, இப்போது தமிழ்நாடு காவல்துறையும் அறவழியில் போராடுபவர்களைக் கைது செய்யும்போது தங்களின் பெயர்ப் பட்டையைக் கழற்றிவிட்டு மனித உரிமைகளை அப்பட்டமாக மீறி வருகிறது.

காவல்துறை, சட்டத்தையும், தன் சொந்தத் தீர்ப்பையும் இப்படி வீதியில் இறக்கி மிதிக்கும் போது, அதைக் கண்டித்து முறையிட்ட வழக்கறிஞரிடம், "எங்கள் நேரத்தை வீணடிக்காதீர்கள்... வீடியோக்களைப் பார்க்க எங்களுக்கு ஆர்வமும் இல்லை, நேரமும் இல்லை!" என்று இந்தியத் தலைமை நீதிபதி கூறியிருப்பது கண்டிக்கத்தக்கது!

அரசமைப்புச் சட்டத்தையும் மனித உரிமைகளையும் காக்க வேண்டிய உச்சநீதிமன்றமே காவல்துறை நடத்தும் வன்முறைகளுக்கான ஆதாரங்களைப் பார்க்க "நேரமில்லை" என்று கதவை மூடினால், அதிகார வர்க்கத்தின் அடக்குமுறைக்கு எதிராக நாட்டின் இளைஞர்கள் வேறு எங்கே போய் நிற்பார்கள்?

இத்தகைய பொறுப்பற்ற செயல்பாடுகள் மேலும் போராட்டத்தை தீவிரப்படுத்தும்!

நீட் தேர்வை எதிர்ப்பதாகக் கூறும் இந்த அரசு, அந்த அநீதிக்கு எதிராகப் போராட நினைக்கும் மாணவர்களுக்குக் கட்டுப்பாடு என்ற பெயரில் முட்டுக்கட்டை போடாமல்... தமிழ்நாட்டின் ஒவ்வொரு மாவட்டத்திலும் அவர்கள் பாதுகாப்பாகப் போராட ஒரு 'பாதுகாப்பு மண்டலத்தை' (Safe Zone) காவல்துறை அமைத்துக் கொடுக்குமா?

அப்படி ஒரு பாதுகாப்பான வழிகாட்டலுடன் தமிழ்நாட்டில் தொடங்கும் போராட்டம், இந்தியா முழுமைக்கும் முன்னுதாரணமாக மாறி, உச்சநீதிமன்றமே நீட் தேர்வை மறுபரிசீலனை செய்யும் சூழலை உருவாக்கும்!

அப்படி நடக்கும் பட்சத்தில், காவல்துறை உண்மையிலேயே மக்களின் நண்பன் என்பதையும், இந்த அரசு தன் கொள்கையில் உறுதியாக நிற்கிறது என்பதையும் நான் உளமார ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளத் தயார்.

இன்னொரு பக்கம், பாஜகவைத் தனது 'கருத்தியல் எதிரி' என்று அறிவிக்கும் #தவெக, தன் எதிரியை எதிர்க்க வீதியில் இறங்கும் மாணவர்களுக்குத் தமிழ்நாட்டிலேயே அரணாக நின்றுப் போராட ஏன் முன்வரவில்லை?

விளாத்திகுளம் சட்டமன்ற உறுப்பினர் கைதை எதிர்த்துப் போராடியதற்காக மற்றவர்களையும் கைது செய்ய வேண்டும் என்றும், "10 பேரை உள்ளே பிடித்து வையுங்கள், அடங்குவார்கள்" என்றும் திரு. சவுக்கு சங்கர் பதிவிட்டிருப்பது அப்பட்டமான சந்தர்ப்பவாதம் மற்றும் வன்மையாகக் கண்டிக்கத்தக்கது.

அவரது கருத்துக்களில் எனக்கு பல முரண்பாடுகள் இருந்தபோதிலும், அவர் மீது எடுக்கப்பட்ட தேவையற்ற கைது நடவடிக்கைகளுக்கு எதிராக அன்று மனித உரிமை அடிப்படையில் நாம் குரல் கொடுத்தோம்.

ஆனால், காவல்துறையின் ஒடுக்குமுறையால் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட அவரே, இன்று அரசியல் சூழல் மாறியதும் அதே காவல் ஒடுக்குமுறையை ஒரு தீர்வாக முன்வைப்பது அவரது இரட்டை வேடத்தையே காட்டுகிறது.

அரசியல் களத்தில் அநாகரிகப் பேச்சுகளுக்குச் சட்டப்படி வழக்குப்பதிவு செய்யப்பட வேண்டுமே தவிர, போராடுபவர்களைப் பழிவாங்கும் நோக்கில் காவல் வன்முறையை ஏவி "அடக்கி ஒடுக்குவது" ஒருபோதும் தீர்வாகாது.

சட்டம் தன் கடமையை நடுநிலையோடு செய்ய வேண்டுமே தவிர, ஒருவரின் சுயநல மற்றும் சந்தர்ப்பவாத அரசியலுக்காக மக்களை ஒடுக்க காவல்துறை பயன்படுத்தப்படக் கூடாது.

அவரின் தற்போதைய இந்த அதிகார ஆதரவுத் தொனி, சுயநல அரசியலையே அப்பட்டமாகத் தோலுரித்துக் காட்டுகிறது!

While many are swayed by sentimental stories and global awardsl, observers like us judge an administrator by concrete policy outcomes.

If the care for wildlife was absolute, it wouldn't include handing over our frontline tribal APWs to private contractors. This regressive move slashes their job security and leaves them vulnerable.

True passion isn’t defined by a well-timed tweet or largely anecdotal story like this. It is reflected in how you treat your department's most critical, marginalised frontline workers!

Sufficient evidence has emerged here to show how having a personal social media account to share work-related content by #TamilNadu bureaucrats helps build an eager online defence team.

Those within the system and those who work directly with the forest staff have a completely different perception that is directly opposite to this manufactured narrative.

This points to a deeper psychosocial shift in public service, where the digital representation of work begins to matter more than actual material results. When bureaucrats constantly seek instant validation online, their focus subconsciously shifts from solving slow, complex human, forest and wildlife problems to chasing highly visual, easily marketable achievements.

Manufacturing a positive perception is an easy game to play when you have exclusive access to restricted, beautiful forest locations that naturally capture the attention of netizens. However, when public service is reduced to a curated aesthetic, the actual struggles of vulnerable frontline workers are easily erased.

There must be a strict Standard Operating Procedure for bureaucrats using social media, forcing them to use only official channels or keep their personal accounts entirely separate from their professional duties.

Will the #TVK-led govt under #CMVijay’s leadership achieve this feat not only for bureaucrats but for his ministers as well?

A much-needed round of IAS transfers, especially for the Environment, Climate Change and Forests Department in #TamilNadu.

I hope the new leadership will not betray our first line of defence in protected areas (the Anti-Poaching Watchers (#APW)). On paper, APWs are regarded as the eyes and ears of the forest and the mainstay of wildlife protection.

Yet in court, the dept. claims not to know who they are when any issues raised in regularisation of their services as forest watchers.

The forest bureaucracy must not backstab these APWs, most of whom come from indigenous tribal communities.

First thing, roll back the implementation of outsourcing critical conservation frontline workers like APWs!
