May I ask you to do two things for the future of all schools this weekend?
1. Reply to the Ofsted consultation. Especially attainment should not be used to compare schools.

2. Complete the Alternative Big Consultation.

Plz RT!
"The idea that professionals should sit and listen to the inspectors speak about the school without being allowed to talk (daily end of day feedback) is an insult to the profession and a disgraceful way to treat other professionals"
Last week I raised this

I can't get my head around how exactly sustained shared thinking means that 5 year olds are expected to meet more demanding standards - in communication & language, or anything else? This is bizarre.
Sean, a teacher and one of our hosts described his typical day:
“get up 5am
Out of shower 5.30
Get breakfast and talk to partner about the day ahead (also a teacher)
Leave for work at 6.45
Arrive 7.10
Photocopying, all retrieval tasks prepared, hole punched, place in rooms where I am on the different sites, lessons in correct folders
Then briefings on Mondays/Thursdays
Then teaching
20 min break and 30 min lunch - if I don’t have a free, I am left with about an hour to do other stuff I need to do
Adding behaviour points on SIMs, interventions after school, twilights.
Time disappears into the ether - you still have loads to do when you get home!
I leave school 4.30-5pm
25 mins drive - only time I don’t think about school
5pm onwards - life stuff! I have 4 kids, cleaning, dinner etc
6.30pm dinner
7.15pm into office and work to around 10pm unless mock exams etc and then sometimes later to 11pm”

@Oldprimaryhead1 I am glad you had a good experience but as a person that has been on three sides on this (As a headteacher, Ofsted Inspector and Education Adviser) I know how it is pure chance that you get an inspector who knows what they are doing.
Erm, lads, we’ve only all gone and nailed less than, more than and equal symbols in Y1 with numbers within 10!
Me, walking around my lesson today … 😱🥳🤩😍👌🏻
When I started teaching, there were no emails. We all managed to teach, lead, keep everyone safe & function without weekends or holidays full of ‘essential’ communication that just had to be sent at the weekend.
Just because we now can, doesn’t mean we should.
I know this sounds obvious, but the bedrock of any good school is the quality of teaching and learning (and all the elements that allow that). Without quality teaching, you are stuffed.
That’s my CPD for you all today.
That’s £10 please.
@chrisdysonHT@Ofstednews@MichaelT1979 🤬🤯 since asking this question, a new Ofsted webinar popped up on YTube last evening. They went through the research they’ve done which showed previous data based inspections narrowed the curric. I’m hoping it’s a sign! https://t.co/PuYfGo3aqB
