Some thoughts on Somalis you won’t get anywhere else

1. They’re smart and decently hardworking. I hear in Africa that they are hated in part because they’re market dominant minorities there. They open up convenience stores and wipe out the local competition.

2. They are far from the only minority group engaging in widespread fraud and abuse of government programs. They’re just a relatively easier target because they’re not as powerful as a group and they’re black and Muslim.

3. They got colonized by Italy and they eat pasta. I once went to a Somali restaurant in the dangerous part of Harlem 125 (middle west below morning side park) late at night and had Somali Italian food. I cannot recommend that.

4. I personally respect the country for the piracy thing they were doing for a while. Okay, a bad activity, but it takes balls to go out on the open ocean and do that.

5. Somalis will tell you that their country is fucked by foreign powers and there is almost certainly some truth to that.

6. We will see some Somali billionaires in the future in the USA. They got it in them to make that happen.

Not everything is so simple. The outrages that are manufactured get annoying because they’re lack nuance and miss out on a lot of interesting facts.

Not taking a position on whether or not they should be in the country with this post, just filling in some details you probably didn’t know.
