The allegation by Opposition Leader @RAshokaBJP and Union Minister @hd_kumaraswamy that Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar is being subjected to phone tapping reflects their own mindset rather than reality. It appears to be a statement driven by frustration and political desperation.

Since our party returned to power, these jobless opposition leaders have repeatedly attempted to create misunderstandings between me and D.K. Shivakumar. Their efforts may reveal their own bitterness, but they will have no impact on our strong and cordial relationship.

It is worth remembering that one of them is a former Chief Minister and the other has served as Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister. During their tenure, the intelligence department functioned under the Chief Minister. Their remarks seem to reflect their own past experiences.

Ours is a party that practices internal democracy. The Congress Party is neither like the BJP, where leaders tremble to speak before the Prime Minister, nor like the JD(S), which functions under the dominance of a single family. None of our MLAs are supporters of either me or D.K. Shivakumar individually - they are supporters of the Congress Party. Within the framework of party discipline, they are free to express personal opinions and maintain cordial relationships. However, regardless of what any MLA may say, ultimately all of us - including me and Shivakumar - abide by the directions of our party high command. We have said this not once, but a hundred times. This is the ultimate truth.

If BJP or JD(S) leaders are spreading false stories in the hope of damaging our relationship and winning over D.K. Shivakumar, I wish their daydreams well. Shivakumar is a committed Congressman. The BJP has already tried every possible tactic - filing false cases and even sending him to jail - to break his resolve. Despite all this, he has remained loyal to the party. Let these conspiratorial leaders understand that.

A glance at Karnataka’s recent political history will reveal which party was responsible for phone tapping and espionage. It is this very mindset that gave rise to unhealthy political practices such as Operation Lotus, resort politics, and betrayal of mandates. Between 2004 and 2013, the state saw five Chief Ministers in just nine years. Between 2018 and 2023, it saw three Chief Ministers in five years. The root cause was mutual distrust, hatred, jealousy, and backstabbing conspiracies within their ranks.

In 2018, when H.D. Kumaraswamy was Chief Minister, his current political ally @BYVijayendra had alleged that even the phone of Adichunchanagiri’s revered Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji had been tapped. The CBI, which investigated the matter, reported that it was not just one seer’s phone, but the phones of seven seers that had been tapped. Having already proven himself unworthy of trust, would the BJP leaders spare Kumaraswamy himself from surveillance? They may well have deployed spies against him already. Let it be remembered that it is because of such dubious practices that the people of the state have rejected both these parties.

It is an open secret that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, from the day he assumed office, has sought to misuse power and government machinery to control not only opposition leaders but even those within his own party who could challenge his leadership. Across the country, people openly discuss the misuse of agencies such as the police, CBI, ED, and Income Tax Department. Would such leaders refrain from tapping the phones of their political opponents? However, I make it clear that neither I nor any leader of my party will bow to or be intimidated by such threats.

Kumaraswamy may have learned the lessons of surveillance from his revered father himself. History records that the Congress Party withdrew its support to Deve Gowda’s government after allegations of intelligence misuse against its then President, Sitaram Kesri. It is regrettable that due to such distrust and pettiness, a Kannadiga lost the opportunity to continue as Prime Minister for a longer period.

Instead of wasting their valuable time in such malicious politics, I urge H.D. Kumaraswamy and R. Ashoka to function as a constructive opposition and work for the welfare of the state. The wise voters of Karnataka have given us a mandate to govern for five years. Despite all conspiracies and mischief by the opposition, the Congress Party will complete its full term, and Karnataka will continue to have a Chief Minister from the Congress Party.

I don't care if your kid can't code or multiply 236 x 543 in 5 seconds, the damn AI will do all this and more. Teach your kids how to live. Build new things, actual physical things. Teach them social skills. Inculcate civic sense. Lead by example and show them how to groom themselves, how to eat properly, how to treat everyone with kindness & may be just how to stand in a damn queue.

Give them data, and not information. Let them process it & make their own choices. Put them in a school that charges a couple of lakhs less, but fund their travel. Let them explore the world early on. Nudge them to take up a sport seriously. Just don't push them into the same trap set by the previous generations.
