It is amazing to see the amount of people using the area around the canal as a social space. An outdoor space by the water to meet and enjoy with family and friends. The canal was destined to be even more magnificent, it was to pass through phase 1, 2 and 3 of Hulhumale, connecting the three with the main lagoon of Farukolhufushi. It would have been the perfect space for paddle boarding, canoeing, open water sports and swimming.

However HDC under new management only saw commercial spaces to exploit, plots of land to be distributed, family spaces to monetize. Now several three story tasteless rectangular concrete buildings are propping up, HDCs new vision for Channel Park is unfortunately a food court. This is what happens when the only vision is making a quick buck!

Most probably it will be a holiday. If it doesn't happen that way, why don't you ask your boss to release you for 1 hour that day or allow you to go to vote during lunch break or teabreak for which you get 1 hour everyday. Usually we have to vote only 3 times in 5 years.
