Currently, “Backrooms,” a horror film by the 20-year-old director Kane Parsons, is projected to earn an astonishing $70 million dollars in its opening weekend. Remarkably, it isn’t the first time this month that a horror-themed big-screen début from an enviably young YouTuber has surpassed box-office expectations.
