Right-wing tech CEO suggests “doping” women with oxytocin to force them to bond with their husbands and end the “tragedy of divorce”. This is part of a radical forced marriage agenda that sees women’s autonomy as a threat.
[Long Thread] Hello everyone. Recent controversies over transphobia among Chinese lesbians have drawn international attention, and I’ve received numerous messages from people who are curious/concerned about the current living conditions of trans women in China. I wish to take this opportunity to explain the structural oppression and struggles for survival that trans women in China currently face. The target audience of this thread includes fellow trans people and allies around the world and to cis people who view us with skepticism or outright hostility. My name is amber. I am a trans woman who grew up in China and a PhD student at @wgsi. My research focuses on transfem community history in China since 1980. This is a long thread. Please feel free to repost, bookmark, save, and share it on other platforms. I will also update it in response to feedback.
@benjanun_s Academia was like, one of the few big things we had; a major source of soft power built in large part on top international students wanting to study in the US. Like, the implosion is intentional ofc.
But, genuinely impressive how fast we're speedrunning imperial decline here.
Because this incredibly ignorant post punching down on a Filipino graduate and her creative thesis continues to anger me, see this 2023 academic article that reveals how tools (and discourse) about AI use overwhelmingly penalises non-Western varieties of English language
Logging into twitter and immediately getting inundated with, perhaps, the most self-incriminating cancel post I’ve seen in my life.
Like, what the fuck is going on here.
Welcome to Toxic Yuri November! That's not a thing, you say? Well, now it is. Our new bundle is just $15 for TWENTY-FOUR titles, all united by everyone's favorite theme: terrible, no-good, dangerous lesbians. Link in next post.
Elysium’s destruction looms; its greatest pilot Persephone is being eaten from within. She stands to become either a god—or a monster. Our mecha Greek myth retelling continues. More cannibalism, more lesbianism! Pre-order links in next post.
Very normal way to post about getting pushback, some uncivil, from a marginalized community about how the things written about that community were actually fairly offensive to many in it!
ffs, log off. This is just embarrassing.
Folks over at Bluesky have created a world in which the Lemkin Institute believes that "trans people deserve to be eliminated but [is] worried about what will happen to others as a result," based on a faulty reading of our last Red Flag Alert. They have no knowledge of genocide prevention, of the Institute, of the work we do and have done, just a hostile reading of the RFA, which we have taken down because people said we were doing grave harm to the trans community. If this is Bluesky, the so-called left can have it.
