@dansenor A reliable weather vane for terrible, trendy ideas. Thanks Dems- appreciate you all for elevating such political players to a realm where they fail to take "No thank you" for an answer.
@JustineBateman He is correct to soften the focus. The comments to this post is telling of how myopic most people are to the immediate moment. And the unfolding crash. Real art continually refers back to source. It seeks to illuminate. All noise falls away and we can bear witness to beauty.
@InternetH0F "There’s probably, in fact, more talented filmmakers today than there was in the ‘70s. What there was in the ‘70s was better audiences.” Paul Schrader
@magi_jay You might want to white board that logic. The DARVO is actually coming from the side that wants to destroy the centrist dems. The Chait piece literally just quoted the guy at length, and took him at his word. Noting that does not equate acquiescence to the MAGA agenda.
@esjesjesj Well, given Piker's statements, it would appear he has determined the centrist left as HIS enemy. So... by pointing out that fact, with his own quotes, Chait is the offending one? Hmm.. Very weak logic. But such thinking is endemic these days.
@RighttooEarly@CitizenCohn@jonathanchait All of it. The guy is terrible. And his supporters are demonstrating why he is so toxic as a media figure. They come to his defense not carrying factual rebuttals, but instead violent vitriol. That sums it up. Turns out talking online all day leaves a record of one's bad ideas.
@janthonylong@jonathanchait No- just reread your post I was replying to. We are on opposite sides. For the record- Chait is the journalist, Piker is the troll. As such Piker should be disregarded as nothing but a media figure with terrible ideas. Have a nice day.
@janthonylong@jonathanchait I think I miss read your post. Do we both despise Piker and accept the journalism of Chait as having successfully exposed Piker for what he is? Things are so hot online, I may have mis read you. Just making sure.
@SarahLongwell25 Omg. What is going on. Why is there so much violent madness in our discourse? It is getting worse. Very thankful for your work, Sarah. Even if I find myself disagreeing on occasion.
@KyleKulinski Or maybe- hear me out- you guys are just wrong and have demonstrated poor judgment. Learn how to lose an argument by accepting facts. Try that- it would be appreciated by everyone.
@jonathanchait Another great piece. Been reading you for years and appreciate your work. The other comments in this thread are unhinged. I don't understand how people can be so reactionary when all one does is repeat their quotes back to them. Dark times
@brhodes Legitimate questions of El Sayed's claims does not equate an endorsement of Trump's racism. False equivalence. El Sayed's record is written in ink- and it tells the opposite of his claims. His judgment is displayed daily. As such, he is unqualified. MAGA remains unacceptable also
@jkirchick If the political parties led us to this place, of what use are the parties? Another "reality TV star" cashing in on anger. Great... just what we need. More noise less thinking. There is more than enough reason to be angry. But her schtick remedies nothing. Illuminates even less.
@SarahLongwell25 There is "imperfect" and there is unacceptable. Both parties have failed to varying degrees. If our "downfall" results in the system seizing up due to both parties elevating and institutionally supporting unworthy candidates, then that is the result that we deserve
@PodSaveAmerica You guys lost me on El Sayed. You have almost no awareness of his actual limited work in MI. His brief time "working" appears to have been a failure. He has no licensure. But calls himself a DR. An EMT has more licensure than him. Stands with Iran over Israel? WTF Snap out of it
@SarahLongwell25 Sorry Sarah- but the guy can't distinguish between Israel and Iran. There is no amount of contrition that can cover that level of poor judgement. Look into the work of Detroit journalist Charlie LeDuff. Local results always deflates national narratives.
