@horsewithhair @B_OBrien5 @BuddyMcnugget @kayandskittles Also not counting the two-three days of unpaid labour to move and days of paid work lost.
The van might be cheap. For you. It's not for anyone else.
@consumetherich@moodyangela@kayandskittles Err depending on where you go, you can get cheaper than that. EG somewhere in Co Durham or Northumbria.
But good luck getting it somewhere you can commute to. Public transport is pretty awful up here.
@shaun_vids The "gig economy" is just mutton dressed as lamb. The same old capitalist trope of finding a way to profit without actually providing a service. By pushing someone into self employment the cooperation gets to avoid the law on all sorts of things. It's insidious as fuck.
In space toilets there’s a camera that astronauts use to align the device with their anatomy. My question is: does the image they’re looking at have crosshairs on it? Like an aiming reticule? Because i think it should be an asterisk. . . Thank you everyone and good night!
@TheLaxLex @kayandskittles Given how Cadbury or Rowntree did them, that wouldn't be so bad.
Thats not what we would get though.
It would be like the road to Wigan pier, but with netflix.
@kayandskittles I couldn't keep a pet, such as a dog, they require time I dont have.
Anyone who thinks an hours commute is fine has never had to do it. Unless you can afford to pay for your partner to be house husband/wife, theres not enough time in the week to do more than work and survive
5/
@kayandskittles Or the cost in time lost commuting. I have to do my own chores. Leaving at 7am, and getting home at 7:30pm doesnt leave time for chores during the week, so all of those are at the weekend.
4/
@kayandskittles And what about the loss to my social life? Moving an hour away means I have to make an entirely new circle of friends, an hours journey to have a night out with them will cost nearly a weeks wage in taxis fares.
3/
@kayandskittles I'm lucky I have a permanent job, we here I was able to set my shifts to allow for the commute.
Good luck getting that as a minimum wage slave.
I have to start later, and finish earlier, so shift work is right out, I just cant do it without a car.
2/
@kayandskittles I did. The money I saved on rent basically all disappeared getting a season ticket for Northern Rail.
I was unlucky enough to inherit a flat. So I dont have a mortgage. But I do know how much extra it would be. I'm better off, but it's marginal.

@mrmarksteel Italian political debates are certainly better than Question Time. Theres less tory councillors masquerading as the general public for one.
@QualiaRedux@shaun_vids This is why TfL is currently beating them upside the head with UK law
It turns out that even if your contract says your a wardrobe, the whole walk/swim/quack like a duck thing means your a duck
So Uber is on the hook for things like VAT, SSP, holiday pay, minimum wage
expensive
Good morning. Someone on my FB timeline just asked if we “really need to politicize Star Trek” and I’m absolutely dumbfounded.
Bro, do you even Star Trek?
