It’s not what we say that turns people to Christ. It’s what we do. If our actions don’t resemble Jesus why would anyone wana believe what we believe? If we’re unkind and judgemental, why would anyone listen? Lord, please make me more like you 🙏🏼 #MuchLove
Apologize when you make a mistake. It doesn’t mean you’re weak. It means you’re human. The most effective leaders show their vulnerability. The most ineffective leaders show their pride and stubbornness.
No matter what you do, you are not a failure. Failure is an event not a person. Losing or not being good at something doesn’t define you - character does.
You won’t always be known as an athlete. When the cheering fades, you’re stuck with who you are. Sadly, many neglect to develop their character, integrity, trustworthiness, etc. These traits will serve you longer than any athletic skills you develop.
What defines who you are?
You were not born a winner or a loser. You were born a chooser. The choices you make every day add up and you become the sum of those decisions. If you’re not happy with that, change your life - one decision at a time.
Attitude is a choice. You can’t always choose what happens to you but you will choose your response to it. The quality of your response will determine the quality of your life. No one and no thing can tank your attitude without your permission. Be a thermostat not a thermometer.
Remember... It’s never going to be easy. It’s not supposed to be. Life is good and then bam 💥 you get hit with adversity. Don’t give up. It’s how you respond that determines the future you create.
Why are many leaders ineffective? If people can’t count on you, they won’t trust you; and if they don’t trust you they won’t follow you. As leaders, we need to set the standard we want others to be.
Don't let the work ethic of others dictate yours. Do you want to just be the best player on your team? In the district? In the state? In the country? What kind of work ethic would you have to have to be the best player there has ever been? How big is your dream? That’s the bar.
You control your future. When you blame others for your problems and/or situation, you are actually giving up control of your destiny. Own the consequences of your decisions, learn from it and use it as fuel for growth.
If you haven’t read any of John Gordon’s books you’re missing out! He is highly motivating and keeps you focused on what is important. I recommend his work to everyone not just people in leadership roles.
