Excited to share my #ISMSCPoster showing my honours thesis research: Characterizing a66-80 crystallin peptide and resorcinarene host receptor complexes using ESI-MS
@ismsc2020 #noncovalent15@MarticSanela
Thank you @marcuswdrover@chitnislab for organizing such an amazing event! Very happy to share that my #GIDW2020 poster was selected as one of the winners!
Good morning! Today we are going to be announcing the winners for #eSOUSCC48. First up we have 2 winners for the Analytical division talks both from Trent U:
Cassandra Johannessen and Shaelyn Mortensen @shaemort@marticsanela. Congrats! ๐

This poster from Diana Shackleton (Trent University) highlights the use of ESI-FT-ICR-MS in the high resolution structural characterization of the plasma gelsolin protein. @dshacks8@MarticSanela#eSOUSCC48 (https://t.co/2PRz4wkXTW)
Great #eSOUSCC48 presentation from @shaemort from the @MarticSanela lab! A well-presented example of the role chemistry can play in practical therapeutic applications. @TrentUniversity

This poster from Camilla Golec (Trent University) highlights work on the oxidation of ascorbic acid in the presence of Cu(II)/(I) and the role of Cu(II)/(I) in the formation of reactive oxygen species @camillagolec@MarticSanela#eSOUSCC48 (https://t.co/LZdR5LFjKn)
@adynmelenbacher I did compare fresh and incubated host C mixtures to see if incubation played a role, but neither showed complexes either. Thanks for your question! 2/2
@adynmelenbacher Thanks! One possibility is that host C and the peptide may not have formed a complex, but itโs also possible that the voltage or even the buffer I used may have had an influence. I didnโt adjust the voltage for this mix but thatโs definitely something I wanted to try 1/2
@braybray_vale@prof_hleblanc @theresastotes @ASkopyk@jerika_ho Thank you! There have been a lot of successful methods tested so far (for detection), but finding the most effective and practical one is important. I just started my masters, but I look forward to taking the next steps towards this!
@PJKossmann@prof_hleblanc @theresastotes @ASkopyk@jerika_ho Thanks for your question! I havenโt come across one, however there are many publications using different techniques that can be used as a platform for future work.
