What I was told was that a top official’s wife’s name was there in two rolls simultaneously. One in Kerala and the other in Delhi.

When they realised it, they deleted the name in Kerala roll through backend from the database without going the legal route, through the ERO, and a ground level verification.

What was a locally verified roll is being turned into a centralised database with uncontrolled power of deletion and addition completely against the established law.

I watched both of their interviews in Malayalam (they’ll soon be available with English subtitles) before editing this reportage.

I have edited hundreds of stories over the years, but this was one of the most emotionally difficult.

A man was imprisoned for nearly 18 years after his phone number was found in another person’s contact list. Branded a terrorist, he died before the court could deliver its verdict.

His children grew up being called “terrorist’s children.” His wife faced attempts to remove her from work because she was “a terrorist’s wife.” His children lost their father when they needed him most, struggled through poverty, abandoned dreams of higher education, and spent their childhood waiting for him to come home.

The family built a new house hoping to welcome him after his release. Instead, it received his body.

Even if convicted of the original charges, the maximum punishment would have been three years. He spent nearly eighteen years in prison, waiting not only for freedom but also for the chance to be declared innocent. His family says he was denied the medical treatment that could have saved his life.

Let me tell you something about these “warnings” that the benevolent I$raeli army issue.

They are posted on social media and usually target areas with poor connection and at times when people are sleeping

I calculated times between the warnings being issued and the bombings back in 2024. In the first three weeks the shortest was 4 minutes and the longest was 29 minutes.

The gunfire heard in these areas is not “Hezb0llah militants” as so often described by Western media, but locals alerting people to an imminent attack, people that may be asleep, people that haven’t seen the “warnings”

In one instance earlier this year I$rael called a man who was visiting his brothers house and asked if he wanted to die with his family or die alone. He chose the latter, got into his car and drove away. Minutes later he was killed - it was then described as an example of how moral the I$raeli army is.

So don’t buy into the nonsense peddled here. The reality is far different for the people of Lebanon. Excusing their killing by saying “we told you we would do it so it’s your fault” is shameful.

Shocking images have begun to emerge from inside prisons, revealing a reality beyond endurance. This photo was taken yesterday of a young man who was transferred directly to the hospital after his release from prison, his body exhausted and severely damaged by neglect. The doctor who examined him was in shock, saying she had never seen such a case before.

Norwegian scabies is spreading rapidly inside prisons, leading to a severe deterioration in prisoners’ health. There is no medical care, no medication, no water for bathing, no hygiene supplies, and not even clean clothes. Suffering worsens day after day with no intervention.

Where is the world in all of this? Where are those who speak about human rights? What is happening is not just neglect, but a humanitarian catastrophe being committed in silence… as if these victims do not exist.

My great-aunt by marriage, Su’ad Khalil Abu Toha, was born in Jaffa in 1941. She is older than Israel and is older than 97% of the current members of Congress, the President, and his entire Cabinet.
For 78 years, since 1948, Su’ad has lived in a refugee camp in Gaza City, my birthplace. She is now in the terminal stages of cancer. Doctors have informed her children, who are as old as most of the U.S. Cabinet, that there is no hope. They have been told not to bring her to the hospital because there is nothing left to be done. Even basic palliative care is unavailable. Even pharmacies are empty. That’s all because Israel has been systematically blocking cancer medications and essential treatments from entering Gaza. Su’ad’s 62-year-old son recently told me he cannot sleep because of her screams of agony.
While Congress consistently finds bipartisan consensus to authorize shipments of offensive and defensive weaponry (what’s the difference?) to Israel, there is no such urgency for humanitarian aid. The Administration sometimes even bypasses Congress when it comes to sending bombs, tank shells, and artillery munitions to Israel.

Despite international human rights organizations and experts characterizing Israel’s actions as war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide, no member of Congress has proposed exerting meaningful leverage on the US’s main ally to ensure life-saving medication reaches those in need.
A few days ago, I posted a plea for help. I wasn’t expecting a Congressional vote; I was simply hoping a single individual, not necessarily a congressperson, might find a way to alleviate Su’ad’s suffering, even for a day.
I write this now so the next generation may bear witness to our most basic demands and to the fact that our cries for help were met with more bombs on our tents in Gaza and more bullets in the West Bank.

My only wish is that Suad might find peace, and that, in some other world, she'll look at these words and, though she doesn't know English, she'll understand that I tried, that someone in the United States was seeking painkillers for her and not voting on sending more bombs.
