NCP Convener Nahid Islam met with EU Ambassador Michael Miller at NCP's central office in Dhaka today.

Discussions covered referendum reform implementation, EU Election Observation guidelines, and frameworks for upcoming local government elections.

Both sides reaffirmed commitment to continued dialogue and international cooperation.

Following the meeting, NCP leaders guided the EU delegation through the historic July Revolution graffiti.

NCP Convener and Opposition Chief Whip Nahid Islam has responded to Bangladesh's proposed national budget of Tk 9,38,000 crore.

Speaking at Chattogram Circuit House today, he said the revenue target of Tk 6,09,000 crore is impossible to achieve. Bangladesh has never collected this much in its history. Last year's revenue collection was just over Tk 3,00,000 crore.

Nahid identified three fundamental problems the budget fails to address. The fragile banking sector. Inequitable energy contracts. The youth employment crisis.

He also noted the budget contains no plan to recover looted funds, prosecute Awami League era defaulters, or repatriate laundered money abroad.

NCP had presented a shadow budget before the announcement.

A bigger budget without accountability is not development. It is opportunity for corruption.

National Citizen Party Convener Md Nahid Islam, accompanied by NCP Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari, offered Jummah prayers at Dayem Nazir Jame Mosque in Chattogram.

Upon their arrival, they were warmly received by worshippers from all walks of life gathered on the mosque premises.

Following the prayers, the mosque management committee honored both leaders with commemorative gifts as a gesture of goodwill and respect.

Hridoy Chandra Tarua was 22 years old. He was an honors student in the History Department at Chittagong University. He was from Andua village, Mirzaganj, Patuakhali.

His father Ratan was a poor carpenter. His mother Archana worked as a part-time housemaid at neighbors' houses just to keep him in school. Hridoy managed his own university expenses through private tutoring because he was too shy to ask his father for money.

He got GPA-5 in both SSC and HSC. His parents dreamed he would become a government officer.

On July 18, 2024, at 4PM, a bullet entered one side of his throat and exited the other at Bahadderhat intersection in Chattogram. After five days of fighting for his life, he was gone.

His father now spends his days wandering and looking at the spot where his son was cremated.

This documentary by the July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum preserves his story.

Their sacrifice must never be forgotten.

On July 16, 2024, Wasim Akram, a third-year Sociology student at Chittagong College, was shot during a student rally in Muradpur area. He was rushed to hospital where doctors declared him dead around 5:30 PM.

The July uprising in Chittagong resulted in 14 deaths and over 900 injuries, with many sustaining permanent disabilities from shootings.

Wasim wanted to be a teacher. He became a martyr.

Justice for every martyr of Chittagong.

And many more whose names we still do not know. Some were buried in Rayerbazar without identification. Families still searching. Names still unrecorded.

University students. Madrasa students. School children. Private university students. Rickshaw pullers. Shop workers. Food distributors. Medical volunteers. Mothers who brought water to protesters on the streets. People from every corner of Bangladesh.
They did not belong to one party. They were Bangladesh.

The UN documented over 1,400 killed. Thousands more suffered severe life-altering injuries.

Their killers must face justice. Every single one of them.

On World Environment Day, NCP Dhaka North launched a week-long tree distribution program across schools in Dhaka.

NCP's mayoral candidate Ariful Islam Adib distributed over 400 saplings across three schools in Mirpur today. Mirpur Bangla High School, Adarsha Girls School and MDC School. Students described the initiative as a highly positive step from a political party.

Ariful Islam said: "Children are the future. We want to raise their awareness about the environment and responsible citizenship. We want to build a Dhaka that is livable and just, free from pollution and encroachment."

The program will continue across schools throughout Dhaka North this week.

This is what the fall of fascism looks like.

For 15 years, Awami League killed, disappeared, and silenced. They used 1971 as a shield while committing crimes that betrayed everything 1971 stood for.

They spent 4 billion Taka of taxpayers' money just to celebrate Mujib's 100th birthday, while millions went hungry and unemployed. They placed his statues on every corner of Bangladesh and called critics "Razakars" to silence dissent.

1971 does not belong to Awami League. It belongs to the people of Bangladesh.

August 5, 2024 was the answer.

The ICAPP delegation was led by Secretary General Hon. Oh Song. Former Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Mongolia and Portugal.

NCP was represented by Spokesperson Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiya, International Affairs In-Charge Alauddin Mohammad, and Joint Member Secretaries S.M. Suza Uddin and Faridul Alam.

Key discussion points:
Strengthening political dialogue across Asia. Promoting democratic governance and peace. The role of young political leaders in addressing contemporary challenges. Future leadership exchange programs and international collaboration.

ICAPP Secretary General highlighted the importance of youth leadership in shaping the future of Asian politics. He welcomed NCP's participation in the upcoming ICAPP General Assembly. This will mark NCP's first engagement with ICAPP at this level.

Both sides concluded with a shared commitment to good governance and stronger regional cooperation.
