We spent months investigating the inner working of the EC.
What we found: the majority of the Commission, kept in the dark for almost a year.
Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi objected on record at least 14 times in 10 months, FOUR times on a single day, to decisions taken in the Commission's name without their knowledge.
Here is what they flagged:

Schools don't have teachers, hospitals don't have doctors, water has uranium, air is polluted, deforestation is at an all time high, the rupee is at an all time low, petrol prices are at an all time high, manipur is burning and after being the world's second-largest sugar exporter, we are now an importer. But yeah, let's talk about Vande Mataram.
“Will the Prime Minister, who changes his skin tone, dresses up, puts on an act the moment he arrives in Tamil Nadu….solve our problems?
The longest serving PM of this country cannot even holding a single press conference. Isn’t this an absolute disgrace..??
We are not affiliated with any political party, we are fighting for our rights. When so many students are demanding Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, the PM doesn't even talk about the issue.
We read in books that the Britishers suppressed Indians. But today we are seeing what real suppression looks like.
Journalists once had value. Today because of the PR they do, they have become a farce.. It is sad!”.

@TimesNow You deserve this kind of treatment. We, the people of India, have seen your double standards in reporting. People are waiting for an opportunity to give it back to the Godi media.
We should not simply move on from what BJP called "Coalgate". It is important we remember what lies were spread about Dr. manmohan Singh and the UPA government and about others accused of corruption.
Here's a short walk down memory lane:
March 22, 2012: A Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) draft report is leaked. It alleges "undue benefits" totalling Rs 10.67 trillion given to commercial entities by awarding 155 coal blocks without auction between 2004 and 2009.
May 31, 2012: Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) directs a CBI inquiry based on a complaint by two BJP MPs Prakash Javadekar and Hansraj Ahir.
August 17, 2012: In a joint statement issued after the CAG report was tabled in Parliament, Swaraj (Leader of Opposition, Lok Sabha) and Jaitley (Leader of Opposition, Rajya Sabha) stated: "The report represents a mix of the policy paralysis, inefficiency being used for a corrupt and collateral motive by the UPA Government. It is this mix which has caused, according to the CAG, a wrongful loss of Rs. 1,86,000 Crores to the Public Exchequer."
September 2012: BJP issues a paper "The Great Coal Robbery" authored by Ravi Shankar Prasad, Balbir Punj, Prakash Javadekar. Edited By Chandan Mitra.
September 13, 2012: Narendra Modi tweeted: "Coal scam has darkened the face of entire nation. AICC is now an abbreviation for All India Coal Congress."
Here's a bit about what Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh said in his statement to Parliament on August 27, 2012:
1. I want to assure Hon'ble Members that as the Minister in charge, I take full responsibility for the decisions of the Ministry. I wish to say that any allegations of impropriety are without basis and unsupported by the facts.
2. The observations of the CAG are clearly disputable.
3. The policy of allocation of coal blocks to private parties, which the CAG has criticised, was not a new policy introduced by the UPA. The policy has existed since 1993 and previous Governments also allocated coal blocks in precisely the manner that the CAG has now criticised.
4. The CAG says that competitive bidding could have been introduced in 2006 by amending the existing administrative instructions. This premise of the CAG is flawed.
5. As stated above, major coal and lignite bearing states like West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Orissa and Rajasthan that were ruled by opposition parties, were strongly opposed to a switch over to the process of competitive bidding as they felt that it would increase the cost of coal, adversely impact value addition and development of industries in their areas and would dilute their prerogative in the selection of lessees.
6. The then Chief Minister of Rajasthan Smt. Vasundhara Raje wrote to me in April 2005 opposing competitive bidding saying that it was against the spirit of the Sarkaria Commission recommendations. Dr. Raman Singh, Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh wrote to me in June 2005 seeking continuation of the extant policy and requesting that any changes in coal policy be made after arriving at a consensus between the Central Government and the States.
7. The CAG report has criticised the Government for not implementing this decision speedily enough. In retrospect, I would readily agree that in a world where things can be done by fiat, we could have done it faster. But, given the complexities of the process of consensus building in our Parliamentary system, this is easier said than done.
These are excerpts from his statement. He said a lot more.
And now, we have the Special CBI Court saying this:
1. On the core finding: there was not even an "iota of evidence, direct or indirect", to establish a criminal conspiracy among the accused persons, and that "the CBI miserably failed."
2. There was "no nexus was established between the payments, the allocation of the Bandar Coal Block, or the letters written to the Prime Minister's Office."
3. On former Coal Secretary H.C. Gupta: However, before parting with this judgment, this court owes a duty to mention that HC Gupta…, who had been summoned by the court on a closure report filed by CBI qua him, has been honourably acquitted for lack of any evidence for the alleged charges framed against him."
So much of what was said against the UPA was baseless. Perhaps that is what politics is about. But,we should try and remember how we got to this point.
The BJP agent CAG Vinod Rai alleged that there was ₹1.86 lakh crore loss to Govt of India, in coal allocations and now the case is closed by Delhi court after the CBI couldn't produce a shred of evidence.
The same fate as 2G case. Anna Hazare, BJP and Arvind Kejriwal turned this country upside down because of these two fake cases.
The country was growing at double digit and since ever since Modi came to power riding on this, the average growth according to the new formula is less than 4%.
Back then we were growing in tandem with China, and now we are no where in the picture.
In 2014 our GDP was at 2.05 Trillion, and now it is just 3.2 Trillion. The country and whole generate of a Billion Indians are paying the price for this lie storm. Vinod Rai, Anna Hazare, Arvind Kejriwal, and Narendra Modi are all eligible for Nishaan-e-Pakistan like their predecessor Morarji Desai.
"Indian National Congress now urges the entire bureaucracy, to adhere to the Constitution, enact their duties, and serve the nation, without fear, favour and ill-will against anybody. Do not get intimidated by anyone. Do not bow down to any unconstitutional means. Do not be afraid of anyone and discharge your duties, based on merit, on this counting day. We owe it to future generations, a vibrant Democracy and a long-lasting Constitution, as penned by the makers of modern India."

My dear brothers and sisters of Mizoram, I appeal to you to lend your full support to the Indian National Congress as you go out to vote today! Since independence, we have taken every step to strengthen Mizo culture and rights, bringing widespread development on all fronts. The MNF and other parties have failed to deliver on their promises and worsened the prospects for the youth and middle classes of the state.
Most importantly, they are entry points for the BJP - to control Mizoram through a remote control in Delhi. I urge you to exercise your franchise responsibly and bring the Congress back to power!
The all-party meeting organised by the Home Minister today was just an eye-wash and a formality.
As the principal Opposition party, our representative the senior most leader from Manipur, 3-time elected CM Okram Ibobi Singh, was not allowed to present his points representing the pain and anguish of the people of Manipur.
He was the only leader from Manipur in the all-party meeting today, and it is an insult not only to the former CM and the Congress party, but the people of Manipur, that their representative was not allowed to fully put forth his point of view.
We are sharing the 8 points on behalf of @INCIndia, which includes the immediate removal of the CM of Manipur, without which no progress can made towards peace and normalcy in Manipur.
