“Recent panic buying created temporary rush at fuel outlets, but thanks to continuous customer communication and robust supply by Oil Companies, normalcy has returned — reaffirming India’s adequate fuel reserves and uninterrupted supply.” ⛽🇮🇳
Many people say that if they earned ₹ 1 cr+ per year, they would retire immediately.
In real life, it takes time to reach that kind of annual pay - 10-15 years of rising up the corporate ladder.
So, people who earn that kind of money, also have 10-15 years of rising expenses, that adjust to their growing income.
They start off with buying a tea set at Home Store, and end up in Good Earth.
And with that, their insecurities rise as well.
By the time someone reaches the ₹ 1 cr mark, their future needs also multiply; they need ₹ 10 cr of savings and investments to feel secure.
These people are among the biggest consumers in India - in general, more significant in consumption terms, than more affluent business classes who tend to be culturally trained to be more frugal.
Right now, this minuscule class of Indians - the highest paid white-collar employees - are under immense pressure.
Many feel they will lose their jobs in the next 1-2 years, and will be replaced by younger, less expensive employees.
They are cutting back on consumption, travel, luxury purchases, car replacements, and so on.
This is the tipping point for India's premium and luxury industry, which saw a surge after the COVID lockdowns ended.

Someone took a screenshot of one of my tweets and emailed it to my work demanding they fire me. It eventually ended up on the CEO’s desk. After long discussion with me (CEO), I chose to not fire myself.
Ashwin has been brutal in his @IndianExpress interview.
“Some people will get 10 matches, some people will get 15, some people will get 20. The day I wore the Indian colours I knew I’ll get only two. So I was prepared for it. It’s not that it is some unfair treatment meted upon me. The only reason for my improvement or where I stand in how I play my cricket right now is that I have accepted that I will get only two test matches.
I don’t want to go back home and say boss, ‘he got 15 and I got two’. I don’t want to do that because all I can control is who I am and what I can do”
