Imagine waking up one morning and your country’s army is fighting… birds.

Sounds like a joke, right?

It actually happened.

In 1932, the Australian government sent soldiers armed with machine guns to fight thousands of emus that were destroying farmers’ crops.

The soldiers had guns.

The birds had… legs.

After weeks of trying, the emus kept outrunning and outsmarting the soldiers. The operation failed so badly that newspapers declared the birds the winners.

History literally remembers it as the Emu War.

So yes… a country once lost a war to birds. 🐦😂
