@ajmaljami I think the whole narrative was about re-selling of the gifts in the market. There is a difference between retaining a gift and then using the mechanism as a trade item. I hope objectivity should remain the top most priority of a journalist
Happy Sunday, #EconTwitter!
Struggling about how adjust your ๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ง๐๐๐ซ๐ ๐๐ซ๐ซ๐จ๐ซ๐ฌ for ๐๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐ ?
Check out this #econometrics paper by Abadie, @Susan_Athey, @guido_imbens & @jmwooldridge, just out in @QJEHarvard.
Lots of fresh insights and solutions!
This 41 y.o. classic #ECMA article by ๐๐๐ฅ ๐๐ก๐ข๐ญ๐ (@UCSD) is definitely one of my favorite #econometrics papers.
Short, focused, pathbreaking, well written, disruptive, theoretically super interesting, relevant in applications.
Simply amazing!

While prepping some slides on when/how to cluster your SEs, I came across this gem of a final bullet point from @metrics52's grad class (c. 2014)
On the right, my updated take (c/o @KhoaVuUmn)

Want to dive into ๐ซ๐๐ ๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐๐จ๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ฎ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐๐๐ฌ๐ข๐ ๐ง for causal inference?
then, you cannot miss these two volumes by the RDD superstars Matias Cattaneo, Rocio Titiunik (@princeton) and Nicolas Idrobo (@Penn).
A must-have!
Hi #EconTwitter!
Interested in analysing the causal effect of an intervention through a ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐ญ๐๐ซ๐๐๐๐ญ๐ฎ๐๐ฅ ๐๐ง๐๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ฌ๐ข๐ฌ?
If you missed it, check out this cool #JASA paper by Masini (@Princeton) & @mcunhamedeiros (@UofIllinois), which allow for high dim data!
Hi #EconTwitter!
Interested in ๐๐๐ฎ๐ฌ๐๐ฅ ๐ข๐ง๐๐๐ซ๐๐ง๐๐ using synthetic control methods?
Check out this new #Econometrica paper by Florian Gunsilius (@UMich)!
Useful for estimating causal effects on aggregate units when you have access to data at a finer granularity.
Quick @Stata tip: if you want to look at frequencies of a variable, "fre" displays both values and labels at the same time, while "tabulate" does not. To use "fre":
ssc install fre

Hi #EconTwitter!
For economists interested in ๐๐ง๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐ฎ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ๐๐ฅ ๐๐๐ซ๐ข๐๐๐ฅ๐๐ฌ estimation, here's a brand new @JEconometrics paper by M Keane and T Neal (@UNSW), showing yet again how problematic 2SLS inference can be.
A must-read for practitioners (and referees)!
Someone pointed out to me that I should use matching in my DiD model since my control and treatment groups differ in pre-treatment characteristics.
I couldn't remember exactly why this might be a bad idea until I remembered this great paper
