पंजाब के संगरूर जिले में सुनाम के नज़दीक खड़ियाल गांव के पास से गुज़रने वाली नहर में देर रात करीब 2 बजे करीब 50 फीट लंबी दरार आ गई, जिससे नहर का किनारा टूट गया और तेज़ बहाव के कारण सैंकड़ों एकड़ फसल पानी में डूब गई।

जैसे ही इस आपदा की सूचना डेरा सच्चा सौदा के सेवादारों को मिली, तो वे तुरंत मौके पर पहुँच गए। बिना किसी देरी के, सेवादारों ने नहर के पानी को रोकने और हालात को काबू में लाने के प्रयास शुरू कर दिए ताकि लोगों की जान-माल का ज़्यादा नुकसान न हो सके।
