दो पुलिस वालों की सच्ची कहानी।

साठ के दशक में एक छोटे-से पुलिस थाने में दो हवलदार साथ काम करते थे। दोनों परिवारों में गहरी आत्मीयता थी।

समय बीता। कुछ सालों में ही उनमें से एक पदोन्नत होकर सब-इंस्पेक्टर बन गए। अफसरों और नेताओं की खुशामद के साथ-साथ जहाँ अवसर मिला, वहाँ रिश्वत लेने से भी वे नहीं चूके। शिकायतकर्ता हो या आरोपी, वे किसी को नहीं छोड़ते थे।

जबकि दूसरे पूरी नौकरी में हवलदार ही रहे।

सब-इंस्पेक्टर साहब ने शहर में दो मकान बनाए, गाँव में ज़मीन खरीदी और परिवार संपन्न हो गया।

दूसरे हवलदार बिल्कुल अलग थे। ईमानदारी, कानून और अपने सिद्धांतों से उन्होंने कभी समझौता नहीं किया। वे हमेशा बेक़सूर के पक्ष में, और अपराधी को सजा दिलाने के लिए लड़ते थे। सीमित वेतन पर चार बेटों और एक बेटी का पालन-पोषण किया। जीवन बेहद साधारण था, लेकिन सम्मान से भरा हुआ।

बीस-पच्चीस वर्ष बाद दोनों इस दुनिया से चले गए।
फिर उनकी असली विरासत सामने आई।

सब-इंस्पेक्टर साहब का एक बेटा प्रॉपर्टी के धंधे से धनवान बना, लेकिन जुए, शराब और दूसरी बुरी आदतों में डूबकर असमय चल बसा। दूसरा बेटा रंगदारी और अपराध की दुनिया में कुख्यात हो गया और अंततः प्रतिद्वंद्वी गिरोह की गोली का शिकार बन गया।

उधर, हवलदार जी के बच्चे शिक्षक, प्राचार्य, प्रोफेसर और जिला शिक्षा अधिकारी बने। सबसे छोटे बेटे ने इंजीनियरिंग के बाद सामाजिक कार्य का रास्ता चुना।

इस कहानी का छोटा बेटा मैं हूँ। और मुझे ऐसे पुलिस वाले का बेटा होने पर गर्व है।

As everything slowly begins to sink-in, and after finally getting some sleep last night, I wanted to share a small personal note…✍️

The first call I made after Vikram-1 successfully reached orbit was to my Dad.

He is the man who made my journey possible—with dreams for me far bigger than the ones I had for myself, and by simply never giving up on me.

Until my 8th standard, I was a bad student. I scored 51 marks in Maths and even failed another subject. Back then, I could never have imagined that I would one day make it to an IIT—or have the privilege of contributing to India’s first privately developed rocket reaching orbit, making India only the third country in the world to achieve this.

When I called him after the launch, he just cried.

And cried.

He couldn’t speak a single word.

But I understood every word he couldn’t say.

I managed to hold back my tears when Vikram-1 reached orbit. But somehow, writing this, I can’t.

Thank you, Dad. ❤️

And a big shout-out to every dad who dreams big for their children—and never gives up on them. 🙏
