@worthless_54 @jkenney Loving Putin and imperialist Russian propaganda is the domain of @duncankinney and @ggreenwald and other Soviet apologists.

Humanitarian wanted for war crimes. Who kidnaps children, bombs baby strollers and schools. Who is waging a war of genocide.

[ian bremmer @ianbremmer]

us special envoy steve witkoff to president putin: “you talk so much about my president, president trump, being a humanitarian. you are a humanitarian also, sir, and i salute that.”

truly hard to watch.

I bet it’s a coincidence you don’t post when Yandex data centres are hit by Ukrainian drones.

[COUNTER-COINCIDISM 1 @MarkAGirard1]

@shandro Yes, this is bullshit, but let's not ignore that the covid measures were and still are genocide and that everyone who pushed them is a criminal of the very highest order deserving the harshest penalties allowed by law.

[Tyler Shandro @shandro]

No. As @howardanglin put it, they voted to be asked the question.

[David S @CatholicCanuck]

@shandro A half million Albertans ready to walk right now doesn't sound like you saved much there Mr. Shandro.
Alberta and Canada will never be the same again.

[Mitt Romney @MittRomney]

Churchill could have shortened WW2 by years if he had just “done a deal” with Hitler. George Washington could have done a deal to end the American Revolution. Zelenskyy is in good company.

Proud to have been a volunteer and donor to Vote to Stay.

Congratulations to all the individuals, organizations and grassroots groups who worked to keep Alberta in Canada. You came from different backgrounds and political perspectives, but were united by a common purpose. Thank you for standing up for our province and our country. 🇨🇦

And thanks to @montesolberg for his leadership in organizing the group around Vote to Stay.

.@MonteSolberg Statement on Alberta Separation Referendum Results 🇨🇦

DRUMHELLER, AB (Oct. 20, 2026) – Today, Vote to Stay Founder Monte Solberg issued the following statement in response to Albertans' decisive and overwhelming vote to stay in Canada:

"Albertans have spoken loud and clear, voting overwhelmingly to stay in Canada and reject separation.

"Alberta's future is about building a stronger province alongside our fellow Canadians, not breaking our country apart.

"It's time to put the question of separation to rest and get to work building a stronger Alberta within a united Canada.

"Let's close this chapter and move forward together as proud Albertans and patriotic Canadians – focused on making life more affordable, getting pipelines built, developing our energy resources, attracting investment, creating jobs, and securing a brighter and more prosperous future."

A “cardinal breach of journalistic ethics”. Who is to believe this was the one and only time one of their writers did this?

At least Duncan has the time to return to what he loves most: spreading Russian imperialist propaganda.

I think Albertans are extremely prepared to put an end to this incredibly embarrassing chapter in our shared political history.

[Tyler Shandro @shandro]

@Mlee330722981 Albertans have backbones. We use our names.

[Tyler Shandro @shandro]

Not different from other places in the world, expect bots like this trying to undermine the trust Albertans have in our democracy.

We all need to fight back against it.

[ML🇺🇸🇨🇦 @Mlee330722981]

@shandro Jesus, they've been an absolute sh&t show. Albertans dont have confidence in them. People need to be fired.

[Tyler Shandro @shandro]

Thank you to Elections Alberta’s leadership, staff and everyone working at a polling station today. They administer the rules they’re given. They don’t choose them.

Whatever your view of this referendum, thank you to those working to ensure Albertans can have trust and faith in our democracy.

These are our neighbours and friends who are doing an amazing job administering this referendum.

BREAKING: Duncan Kinney has pleaded guilty to a count of mischief, admitting he spray painted a bust of Roman Shukevych with the words "Actual Nazi" at an Edmonton Ukrainian centre in 2021. He admits he then wrote an article about it, pretending someone else was responsible

Mitch Sylvestre becoming leader of the B.C. Greens was not the plot twist I was prepared for, today.

“Voting to leave — even just voting in favour of maybe voting later to leave — is not sending a message to Ottawa.

“It’s sending a message to Washington.

“The message is this: Canada is weak, regionally divided, and can be turned on itself for America’s benefit. Ultimately, that message hurts all of us, including Albertans.”

Meet Bohdan, a young Ukrainian newcomer who has been building a life in Alberta for the past three years.

He works as an intern and hopes to study architectural engineering in Calgary. He pays taxes. He made Alberta his home.

Watch and hear Bohdan in his own words what belonging, opportunity and stability in Alberta mean to him.

Due to the public stance of Russian citizen Ovechkin, the NHL has become—and remains—a massive advertisement for Russia's imperialist war. The current state of the NHL is prolonging the war, resulting in far more people being killed and maimed. How much longer will the United…

[Wyatt Claypool @wyatt_claypool]

Jeff Rath posted this about me but I cannot respond because he blocked me a long time ago after I challenged him to door-knocking the most UCP riding in all of Calgary instead of doing town halls with the same 400 people in rural area.

I’m not an Independence supporter but if you are, can you not see that this man has no intention of actually trying to win the vote or even increased support?

He’s a grifter who wants money and attention.

Right now he’s focussed on trying to take down Danielle Smith.

Why?

Because he needs somebody to blame for the fact that the movement that he was largely in charge of is not popular.

And Jeff does not take responsibility so he’s going to blame Smith for apparently not bending over backwards to help them and endorse them.

These guys who couldn’t organize a local school board campaign are going to tell Danielle Smith that she’s running the province wrong.

She let them have their vote, she even modified the question when a judge shut down the original one so that it would still be on the ballot in someway, but that’s not good enough apparently.

Avoid people who are upset after largely getting what they want.

They can whine all day that they’re mad that the vote isn’t binding, but that’s not relevant considering that they aren’t even close to 50% of the vote and in fact some surveys show having it not be binding increases the support for Independence by a few points.

What is life really like for Ukrainian newcomers who came to Alberta since 2022?

Many have now been here for nearly four years. They are our neighbours, coworkers, business owners, volunteers, parents and friends. They work, pay taxes and contribute to the communities they now call home.

In this interview, these folks share their experiences of building a new life in Alberta: the challenges they’ve faced, the communities they’ve joined, and the hopes they have for the future.

Their voices deserve to be heard.

Sad news about the death of the great prairie artist David Thauberger (1926-2026.)

He was the painter of our lived environment, combining his skill as a brilliant hyper realist painter with a deep artistic vision of prairie life and culture.

Anyone who grew up on the Canadian prairies can feel a connection with his depictions of the archetypes that surrounded us: the grain elevators, Churches, small businesses, and modest homes. While human figures don’t appear in his paintings, somehow their lives do, reflected in what they built in an often hostile environment.

One of my proudest possessions is his painting “Silent Night,” an homage to the magnificent onion domed Byzantine Churches that dot the landscape of the Northern Prairies. In it he depicts the beautiful ritual culture brought to Canada by Ukrainian pioneers, and associates it with the mystical stillness of a starlit, cold Christmas Eve on the prairies.

Thank-you, David, for a life spent depicting the austere beauty and dignity of life on the Canadian prairies.

Eternal rest grant unto him, and may light perpetual shine upon him. 🙏
