@LilyMarin8 @hashjenni You’re right! That is common when Americans discuss their own ancestry. Everyone is “Irish” on St Paddy’s Day. It just seems weird when they say it to an actual Irishman, or any European for that matter lol

No one goes around actually saying they’re Hyphenated-American unless they’re still 100% for example (an Italian family) then they desperately try for the daughter to marry anyone with a splash of Italian ancestry before she ends up alone and an outcast
