Theoretically, if a public school that allows students to live out of zone and pay tuition was to sign up and participate in the CHOOSE Act, those students accepting the money would be eligible under the Gov/Legislature’s current stance without making a bona fide move.

The AHSAA has bylaws that say students receiving financial aide are ineligible for a year. The AHSAA sees the CHOOSE Act as financial aide. The Gov/Legislature says the AHSAA cannot deem recipients of the CHOOSE Act athletically ineligible.

This is incorrect. The CHOOSE Act does not remove the bonafide move rule.
Great coach, great man, but he should sit down with a legislator and get the facts. I have to assume the misinformation is coming from someone at the AHSAA.
CHOOSE Act amendment from the Alabama House of Representatives.
“Nothing in (The CHOOSE Act) is to override the existing rules related to athletics.”
Amendment accepted!
What am I missing??
I’m thankful for the generation of coaches that welcomed me into the coaching community and greatest profession in the world 43 years ago. Coaching is at a crossroads.
The next few years will define the profession for the next generation.
