I wrote a poem at 5:30 this morning (#ElectionDay) called “No matter what happens today.”

Whoever wins the election,
Our King is still on the Throne.
He rules on high from heaven,
Where His glory is fully shown.

The affairs of men are important,
Who’s in office matters as well.
But it all pales in comparison,
To the issues of heaven and hell.

We are firstly citizens of heaven,
We are sons and daughters of God.
So no matter what happens today,
His kingdom work will go on.

Lost souls will still need saving.
Disciples will need to be made,
Churches will need to be planted.
Our mission from God will not fade.

So go and vote in boldness,
Base your choice on God’s Word.
Pray for revival in this nation,
And know those prayers will be heard.

But no matter what happens today,
Tomorrow God’s kingdom goes on.
It will be forever advancing,
Long after this nation is gone.

Rise up citizens of heaven,
Be loving, courageous and strong,
For in the midst of the chaos around us,
Through Christ we’ve already won!

When we come to those gray areas of life and wonder whether something is acceptable to God, it’s a good idea to ask ourselves four questions: (

(1) Does it build me up spiritually?

(2) Does it bring me under its power?

(3) Do I have an uneasy conscience about it?

(4) Could it cause someone to stumble?

Here’s the wrong question to ask: Can I do this and still be a Christian?

The Bible says, “Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body” (1 Corinthians 6:19–20 NLT).

All around us we can see fulfilled Bible prophecies, signs indicating that the return of Jesus Christ is drawing near.

As followers of Christ, we should be watching for Him. We need to be ready to go.

Jesus, speaking about His return, said, “Be dressed for service and keep your lamps burning, as though you were waiting for your master to return from the wedding feast. . . . The servants who are ready and waiting for his return will be rewarded” (Luke 12:35–37 NLT).

Are you ready for His return? To be ready means to be engaged in activities that you wouldn’t be ashamed to be doing if Jesus were to return.

It’s a good idea to periodically ask ourselves this question: This place that I am about to go, this thing that I am about to do, would I be embarrassed if I were doing it when Jesus came back?”

Think about your plans. Is there anything you will be doing today, tonight, or tomorrow that you would be ashamed to do if Christ were to return? If so, then change your plans. You want to be ready for His return.
