Williams rose the most bc his last projection in 24 was 57th (2nd) but got drafted 46th in the 25 draft. So he moved up 11 spots. Can’t say that’s big development

Oweh just shot more at UK and was the 1st option, 7 ppg difference between OK where he was 3rd option. Brea’s 3% dropped by 6% under Pope

@Jamal26646929 @TaninSmithKK Amari Williams was a projected late 2nd rounder when he transferred here. Oweh averaged 11.4 on 8 fga/gm at OK as the 3rd option, 16.2 on 11 fga/gm 1st yr here as the 1st option , 18.6 on 14 fga/gm last year as the 1st option. Brea’s 3pt% decreased by 6% under Pope.

@TaninSmithKK I’m a huge UK fan but let’s not act like Pope has ever in his life developed a player to get them to the league. Williams and Brea are the only players he’s ever had that ended up drafted, and they didn’t even improve their draft stock under him.

@TaninSmithKK What are you talking about? Pope didn’t develop Williams, Brea, or Oweh. Williams and Brea were projected mid to late 2nd rounders before transferring to Kentucky…a year w/ Pope and both got drafted in the 2nd round. Oweh went down in efficiency, just scored more at a lower rate

@Jamal26646929 @KySportsRadio Those numbers don’t mean too much. Besides Momcilovic (rated 98), Zoom and Wilkins are our next best rated players and they have an almost identical rating as Dioubate from last year. Everybody else we got is rated worse than Brandon Garrison and Jasper Johnson.

@KySportsRadio Pope has only ever lost less than 10 games in a season twice. Both times were at BYU. The SEC is tough and I’m not sure we even have a team better than last years.

@KySportsRadio I don’t know. 12-15 still seems way too high for this team. At the end of the day, we still have a team filled with mid-majors and 1 solid shooter. I think it’s more realistic that we lose 10+ games and struggle to advance past the 1st round of the NCAA tourney, if we make it.

@CameronWaddle He’s so corny, this just confirms it for all the recruits out there. One things for sure, he’s never been able to recruit or develop players. Hopefully this is the last year of him. Praying we don’t finish last in the conference.

@TaninSmithKK UK fan here, I wouldn’t say that Kelsey is less proven as a coach than Pope. Kelsey had a winning percentage of 72% coming into the UofL job and claimed 5 conf championships, with 4 (would be 5 but Covid) NCAA tourney appearances. Pope was 63% with never winning a conf chip.
