@kvlly Someone I used to work with about 12 years ago. Knew his stuff and was incredibly personable. He also knew what I needed to grow as an engineer, even though we both knew it would be a painful path due to the manager on the team (I survived my time on that team and excelled after)

Economy tanked, and vast amounts of people were unemployed, which cost the government money in the short term, and vast amounts of people died, reducing the workforce in the long term. Sure some people made money by betting on these outcomes, but not that many comparatively
