For many athletes with intellectual & physical disabilities in Zimbabwe, sport isn't just a game. It's their community, their joy, their identity. It's all they know.

NAAZ has introduced annual membership fees for athletes.

Fact: Zimbabwe has over 25,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities.
Fact: Many are not gainfully employed due to their disabilities.
Fact: Sport is their main source of belonging and well-being.

This fee is a barrier to participation. We call on NAAZ to reconsider this exclusionary policy. Sport is a right, not a privilege for those who can pay. #Accessibility #ZimbabweSports #NAAZ

The NAAZ fee circular has been reversed. The SRC says it was never approved.

This is a VICTORY for public pressure!

But the chaos is unacceptable. Our most vulnerable athletes were put through stress because of an unapproved, exclusionary policy.

@Shadaya_Knight Reported to be gross mismanagement and malpractice. They took out huge loans at high interest rates.. add do that competition from “tuckshops” who trade in USD only while they have to trade in local currency at the official rate resulting in them overpricing.
