We shared a story Wednesday that was first published March 12 and did not include important context of the March 16 Atlanta-area shootings that killed 8, including 6 Asian women. The headline has since been updated and the tweet, seen below for the record, has been deleted.

I’m making an appearance on #NCCNews today at 4PM with my story on how Central New York schools are handling reopening.

This story about Bella Thorne has her prominence and impact as a celebrity, and the unusualness of her ability to make $1M in a day on an app like OF. A story about a Black sex worker, wouldn’t have that— so they go unreported.

[shantelle @ShantelleSays]

Things like this make me rethink the “newsworthiness” standards that journalist go by. We’re taught to focus reporting on stories related to prominence, impact, and unsualness.

[We Are All Ben Simmons 🎃 @awesomechillguy]

we're like a month away from onlyfans changing so much about media in general and headlines like "bella thorne and kylie jenner: innovators of the year" completely erasing the primarily black sex workers who were harrassed and attacked while making it popular/profitable
