The low pressure area 🌀 , currently located northeast of Sri Lanka, is expected to gradually move away from the island.

Rainy and windy conditions will continue over the next 48 hours

Strong winds and rough seas are also expected over deep and shallow sea areas around Sri Lanka and parts of the Bay of Bengal.

Fishing and naval communities have been advised to remain vigilant and follow future weather bulletins.

Rainy conditions are expected to continue across Sri Lanka over the next few days as a low-pressure system northeast of the island persists and moves northwards.

Showers & thundershowers expected in several provinces, with heavy rainfall above 100mm likely in parts of Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Western & Uva provinces, and Galle, Matara, Ampara & Batticaloa districts.

The low pressure area located northeast of the Sri Lanka, still persist. The system is likely to move nearly northwards during next few days. Due to the influence of this system, the current rainy conditions in the island are expected to continue for the next few days.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-western and Northern provinces and in Anuradhapura, Trincomalee, Galle and Matara districts.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at other places of the island after 1.00 pm.

Heavy falls above 100 mm are likely at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-western, and Uva provinces and in Ampara, Batticaloa, Galle and Matara districts.

The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
