I convened a meeting this week with the Chicago Police and elected officials to discuss the horrible rash of antisemitic flyering that has been happening across Chicago and in the northern suburbs. Hundreds of cars and doorsteps have been littered with gross and hateful flyers in a direct attempt at intimidation. With nearly a dozen incidents occurring across at least six wards, it is time for a coordinated city response to this wave of hate.

I am proud to have spearheaded this first sit-down between police, aldermen, and the head of the Chicago Commission on Human Relations. Those present at the meeting today included police leadership from the Superintendent’s Office and Civil Rights Unit, as well as CCHR Commissioner Nancy Andrade, Mayor Daniel Biss of Evanston, and multiple City Council Aldermen.

Hate is sharply on the rise in Chicago and across our nation. Incidents like this hate flyering, when not addressed, can quickly escalate into an environment that is dangerous to our most vulnerable communities. I intend to hold more meetings until those responsible for these hate incidents are brought to justice.

My fellow Chicagoans, our city is at the precipice

We have been suffering through insidious crime for decades but over the past 8 years under our current Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx’s reign, we have fallen off a cliff

There is no more time, no more mulligans, no more excuses: “We need to right the ship and we need to right the ship quickly.” @EileenCookCnty

It is WELL past time to get the adults back in the room and I’m here to tell you that the first adult we need is, without question, Eileen to replace Foxx, period

I’m an outspoken proponent of Eileen, and although there are many reasons, this less than 2 minute video I took does an incredibly good job of explaining why, and directly from her own mouth, so please watch it

My favorite part is when Eileen says: “And, he’s a nice man…I’m a terrible politician, but he’s a nice man.”

I love this because I’m D-O-N-E with career politicians and NO politician would EVER call their opponent a “nice man” and mean it

Eileen isn’t a career politician, she’s a concerned, life-long Chicagoan who deeply loves our city and knows that it’s time to stand up and do something about it

The big difference between Eileen and any of us, including her opponent, is her EXTENSIVE experience in the criminal justice system as a State’s Attorney, criminal defense attorney, trial court judge, and for the past 7 years, an appellate court judge for Illinois 😳
