Today, I highlighted the growing financing pressures facing Uganda’s refugee response, at a time when the refugee population has surpassed 2 million and demand for essential services continues to rise. The decline in humanitarian funding is affecting key areas including food assistance, education, health, WASH and protection. We are therefore exploring sustainable financing options, including the repurposing of eligible and underutilised development resources, particularly through the World Bank Window for Refugees and Host Communities.
As Government, we remain committed to strengthening coordination, oversight and partnerships to sustain Uganda’s open-door refugee policy, while ensuring that both refugees and host communities continue to access essential services and opportunities for self-reliance.@BalaamBarugahar@KagutaMuseveni@OPMUganda
