#Somalia ratified @ilo Conventions on migrant worker protection & PrEAs. Moreover, the country has both a National Labour Migration Policy & a regulatory framework for PrEAs. This week's workshop in #Mogadishu is about converting those commitments into coordinated federal action.
Happening now in #Mogadishu, 🇸🇴: The @ilo#BRMM programme, with the @SomaliaMolsa, is organising a two-day workshop on the National Labour Migration Policy and PrEA Regulations.Government, unions, employers, and CSOs are discussing how to implement both frameworks in practice.
The UK 🇬🇧 and @ILO have joined forces to support #Somalia 🇸🇴 in developing progressive legal and policy frameworks to protect migrant workers, including the National Labour Migration Policy and PrEAs Regulations.
Trade unions, led by @festusomalia, have driven Somali workers’ contributions to this policy-making process. Recently, with support from the ILO and @FCDOGovUK, @festusomalia strengthened the national trade union leadership to push for fair recruitment, decent work & real protection for migrant workers through effective sensitisation. No worker should be left unprotected.

ILO Conventions have helped drive progress, but the work is far from complete. #IWD2026
