President Trump has fired the Librarian of Congress, Dr. Carla Hayden.
The position of Librarian of Congress is so apolitical that only 14 people have held the role since 1802.
Hayden, who was the first woman and Black American to serve as Librarian of Congress, has held the position since 2016.
Her predecessor served in the role for 28 years before retiring.
School library again used as a prop to publicise nearly $5 billion education funding. Yet will school libraries ( those left, that is) benefit? How about it @NSWEducation@pruecar ? @NeedSchoolLibs
@Brocklesnitch I’ve had a Sunbeam Mini Barista for several years - makes a great coffee, compact, easy to use and clean. Cost me $200 on special. Highly recommend.
@Maynardgcrabbs No teacher librarian would add this to the school’s collection without a thorough analysis first, as to whether it fits the criteria of the collection development policy. Yet another sound reason to mandate prof TL position in every school
@JaneCaro Hard to believe that the position of teacher librarian in NSW is still mandated, given the increasing number of school libraries being repurposed & teacher libn position downgraded or defunct. We need an audit. @NeedSchoolLibs@NSWEducation
Help us call on Cumberland Council to reverse the damaging motion that removed same-sex parenting books from libraries across the area!

@ksimpsonbooks@EmilyGale@ALIANational@statelibrarynsw Yes - hit the council in their hip pocket! Certainly not the library’s fault - staff would not be allowed to speak to media. Need @ALIANational to speak instead plus all public library advocates. It’s the thin end of the wedge
Hoping to see some statements from @ALIANational and @statelibrarynsw about this appalling book banning decision by @CumberlandSyd. Not up to councils to censor what’s already been selected by their own professional library staff. https://t.co/7HIrGLHYcA
