IIUM Maldives Alumni, led by Suood, have sent a letter to Professor Datuk Osman Bakar, Rector of the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), objecting to the decision to confer an honorary doctorate upon President @MMuizzu. The letter cites his attempt to exert control over judiciary through the suspension of 3 judges, 2 of whom are IIUM alumni, including Justice Husnu Al Suood (IIUM matriculation number 9010896) and Justice Mahaz Ali Zahir (IUM matric number G0915853).

Accepting the honorary doctorate is the main purpose of his visit. It is also worth noting that many students in Malaysia have boycotted his scheduled events in Malaysia.
