@tkellykc@robertliefeld@Whatnot Yeah it's not like Mr Liefeld has politically insensitive viewpoints (as much as his haters try to bait him) - Larsen's Spider-man run is better than McFarlanes is about as controversial as he gets.
@RobMessick@robertliefeld@ImageComics@MaratMychaels Was so relieved to finally have the mystery of Paul Scott finally revealed on one episode of the robservation podcast. Liefeld only used the nom de plume on a few occasions.
@RackSpinner Comparing the cover art to that Alpha Flight and the Captain America is night and day. One is a near perfect comic cover the other is a complete travesty. Seems like an editorial decision to feel the need for the title character to be included.
@JLBroomes@JonathanJColton Yeah I can remember getting some Adam Hughes Legionnaires in the early 90s. Felt like he never did any interiors (aside from that one Dark Horse Comics Universe issue) Cassaday I remember first seeing on a cowboy comic for Wildstorm and the AH! influence was obviously there.
@JLBroomes@JonathanJColton Yeah that's fair - always think of John as being the generation after those guys. I feel like Cassaday and Bryan Hitch ushered in the next big artistic movement in comics come the early 00s.
@JLBroomes@JonathanJColton How much did Cassaday do in the 90's. He didn't really find his feet until Planetary which must have barely come out in 1999.
@ChadTHX1138 Phenomenal work that hit like a bomb then he (seemingly) disappeared with only sparodic returns to sequential comics. Style wise a precursor to Daniel Warren Johnson perhaps.
@lewstringer@oinkcomic In my primary school in Sydney Australia not a lot of kids in my class regularly read comics aside from myself (a comic tragic) and one other boy who always bought Oink!
@robertliefeld For everyone saddened by the news of his passing I implore you to read his Arkham Asylum Madness book from many years ago. Feels like too many people have slept on it in recent years.
In high school we had one other classmate who bought comics but of the Hate, Eightball, Yummy Fur variety however he LOVED the work of Sam Kieth. We did too however we loved Youngblood, Spawn and WildC.A.T.s type comics. Sam Kieth was an artist with that type of appeal. RIP Sam.
@JonathanJColton@ShadeX6 Vintage Sam Kieth - blood hungry or the Maxx definitely would be in my "if I win the lottery" dream list of original artwork to own. Outstanding work to behold.
