UK government's promise that Scottish AI data center would be powered 100% by renewable energy turns out to be “smoke and mirrors”.
This is also the site the government promised would provide 3,400 jobs, a number that the simplest analysis suggests is a wild overestimate.
AI data centers benefit AI companies, not local people.

Hugging Face has just been sued for alleged copyright infringement for hosting & distributing copyrighted images, used for AI training.
It's been almost a *year* since I flagged to their CEO that they were distributing copyrighted works that their co-founders seemed to have uploaded themselves.
He said "Ok let us take a look and get back to you".
A year on, that dataset is still live, being downloaded 11k+ times per month.
If studios are using AI it does not make AI fair use, it means the studios themselves are engaging in awful, unethical practices too. Two wrongs do not make a right.
🚨 Google continues to lobby the UK government to hand the work of the country's creatives to big tech companies for free.
And it does so by misrepresenting US copyright law, suggesting companies can simply train AI models in the US (where in fact, far from AI training simply being legal, there are 100+ lawsuits currently going through the courts).
The UK government should continue to resist this brazen demand for a handout of artists' work to the most powerful companies in the world.

Tidal announced today that they will be demonetizing fully AI-generated tracks on their platform. Listeners will also be able to filter out all fully AI-generated content.
Highly encourage everyone to make white cat merch now bec they’re acting like they own the concept
Even made the stolen art as their profile pic
Insane loser behavior 😭
I've been using a userscript / browser extension that increases the visibility of AIGC disclosure and it works like a charm (store page pop-ups and blurry search results).
BREAKING: Meta is pausing an internal AI training program that monitored everything workers did on their computers down to their keystrokes after an internal leak made sensitive data accessible across the entire company.
A screenshot showed that the leak exposed employees' private conversations, performance data, and transcriptions.

"The 'AI Stigma' is real and severely punishes developers": A new study shows how much using AI in games hurts sales, and the numbers are hard to believe."

"Amateur developers might be able to make a quick buck, but established studios are seeing serious declines when using AI during development."
Être anti IA générative c'est pas être nécessairement réactionnaire, c'est surtout comprendre que ces outils sont utilisés pour remplacer des jobs fait par des humains et qu'une fois que les compétences sont perdu car impossible d'en vivre, c'est mort.
