The Israeli occupation is refusing to release two Palestinian doctors, Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya and Dr. Marwan Al-Hams, as part of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, according to CNN.

Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, a pediatrician and director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, was beaten and kidnapped by the Israeli occupation forces during a raid on the hospital in December 2024 after he refused to abandon his patients under siege. He has since been held without charge, and his lawyer revealed that he has lost over a third of his body weight in Ofer Prison, where he has been brutally beaten and denied medical care.

Meanwhile, Dr. Marwan Al-Hams, director of Abu Youssef al-Najjar Hospital in Rafah and head of Gaza’s field hospitals, was abducted in July 2025 by undercover Israeli occupation forces disguised as civilians while meeting two Palestinian journalists in Rafah, both of whom were killed during the operation. His whereabouts remain unknown.

According to the Palestinian Healthcare Workers Watch, at least 28 doctors from Gaza are currently imprisoned by the Israeli occupation, including senior specialists.
