An announcement: We have adopted an all girls’ Gurukul located in the heart of Aligarh. Most girls are from families struggling with poverty or instability

I spent the entire yesterday at the Gurukul. It’s not much accessible by car and the sadhu who founded it has faced threats to life multiple times

When the Gurukul started in 2002, the area was all jungle. Today, it houses about 40 girls who start their day at 4 am, do yajna-havan and exercise, before beginning classes for Sanskrit and other subjects such as Maths, Social Science. They also cook, clean and maintain the premises themselves

They however lack in skills needed for competition in later life such as spoken English, confidence, grooming and Science

My organisation @sewanyaya that has earlier trained Pakistani Hindu refugees kids from Jodhpur in robotics and taken them to IIT tech fests, aims to elevate these girls similarly. We would also provide them with social skills so they don’t fall victim to any traps
