University taught me the right answer exists.

First week on the job: a bug that only hit one customer, only at one time of day, only when they were tired.

Turns out... fat fingers, not code.

Nobody teaches you that.
You just eat a few of these and get less wrong.

The biggest thing university didn't teach me:

Engineering is making good decisions with incomplete information.

Not every bug reproduces.
Not every user explains the problem.
Not every dataset is complete.
You learn by building.
